I’ll always remember Anna this way: smiling and full of life, generous, always up for a good meal and a good laugh.

@annalouizos was such a part of my formative years and in a way I feel like she raised me; she introduced me to the magic behind the theater, gave me a chance to contribute to it by assisting at her studio, was one of the only people who didn’t tell me I was crazy when I transitioned from production to acting, gave me a job running her studio during and after grad school, flat out told me that school and auditions always came first.

She led by example, always treating people with respect regardless of position, always encouraging everyone to do their best. It still hasn’t quite hit me that she’s no longer with us, but I know she left a legacy of artists she taught to be generous with others and live with an open heart.

I will miss you Grammy, and am so, so grateful that our paths crossed all those years ago. I hope you are somewhere at peace with a shot of tequila in your hand, listening to good music, nibbling from a plate of something delicious at your side. by @katchoe

HEALING TUESDAY ❤️‍🩹🌱

A few years ago, my sister @katchoe and I were supposed to go to Disney with our brother’s family… but as is an actor’s life, she got called for a job. I was crushed! But we were coming out of Covid regulations and I knew that getting work was important… even if it meant we’d miss out on going together.
.
When I first saw Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, it completely blew me away — the details, the story just illustrated into the entire land — it was a joy that actually brought tears to my eyes at the time. I, myself, had just came out of my two failed IVF treatments and it was almost impossible for me at the time to feel any happiness whatsoever. When I’d seen this place, even though I knew it was just a set and a theme park, it was a feeling that I can only describe as feeling like you’d been waiting your whole life to feel ❤️‍🩹🌱
.
My siblings had grown up being the hugest of @starwars fans, with tons of story and production background knowledge and @katchoe knew nearly every line of the movies by heart. ❤️
Five years later, along with (and with big hugs to) our friend @ikupoo , my sister and I finally got the chance to see Galaxy’s Edge together … and the joy I’d felt was something I absolutely knew I wanted to witness on her face when she’d see it for the first time 🫶

(And PS @jonfavreau @dave.filoni @brycedhoward @taikawaititi — as she is an actor too, she’s available for the next Star Wars installments. In fact, all three of us Choe siblings are. Just saying… 🥰🫶)

HEALING TUESDAY ❤️‍🩹🌱
.
I won’t be able to write completely in this small post what this moment meant to me, even if it was just a small bit of time in my life.
.
This was a part of my trip to Tokyo that was very personal, and not something I was sure we’d be able to do in our tight schedule. But with the suggestion of my sister @katchoe and the encouragement of my husband, Eric, we set off on an early morning pilgrimage to @waseda_university
(and sweet irony and coincidence, it was Move-In day on campus 😅)
.
Why did we set off on this quest, you may ask?
My great grandfather was a Political Science student at the university back in the early 1900s. It was under completely different circumstances that I got the chance to walk in the same place that he once did, even if it looked different, was a different world since then, and Korea had since been liberated and formed (with his, my great grandmother’s, and many others’ valiant efforts.)
.
I hadn’t grown up with much of the grandparent experience, except with some years of my life with my paternal grandmother.
There are only so many stories of your own family history that connect however they can in your life. Until this moment, I’d never been able to get a sight for myself into just a tiny view of what their life once looked like. The gratitude ran deep for knowing I could be there visiting in my own free will, just getting a glimpse to part of his journey. And for that, I was truly thankful.

2025 was a lot. Going through all my all my photos of the good times, remembering all of the challenging and sad times that there are no photos of which I’m not ready to speak of yet. Such a roller coaster ride of joy and sorrow and grief and growth.

No desire to make a “best of”, so will just put this photo out into the world: my quiet birthday in Paris, drinking white wine and eating raw oysters at noon after a morning at the Musée Rodin with one of my best buds.
