I’ve been getting so many sweet messages, emails, and even in-person chats about The Odds of You and how it’s resonated with you, and I’ve been trying to find the words to explain what that means to me.

I wrote Odds for the 7-year-old girl who didn’t understand why she felt everything so strongly. Who got in trouble for her wiggles and her chatter even when she was trying her hardest to be calm. Who told on herself whenever she “did something wrong” because her brain wouldn’t let her forget it.

I wrote Odds for the 16-year-old who threw up when she failed a chemistry test because it felt like the end of the world. Who buried herself in books and homework because achievement equated to worth in her head. Who wore “gifted” like a badge of honor.

I wrote Odds for the 21-year-old who was staring adulthood in the face and didn’t know where she fit into it. Who forced herself out of her comfort zone by studying abroad in the hopes of finding herself, and friended hard and fast only to be told she was too intense. Too emotional. Too much.

I wrote Odds for the 31-year-old who achieved her dream of being an author. Who poured her heart onto the page and was terrified about what it all meant. Who was learning how to take what had once been catharsis and make it a career. Who had found her people and held fast to them as her life changed.

I wrote Odds for us — the overachievers, the worriers, the adhders, the deep feelers, the pour-our-whole-selves-into-what-and-who- we-love-ers.

I cannot tell you how much it means to me to have so many of you reach out to me to say that this book found you and helped you. That it’s the first time you felt seen in a story like this, and that you’ve made a home for yourself in the pages.

It is truly the greatest honor of my life.

She’s here!!! I am so, so excited to bring you my fourth (!!) novel and FIRST contemporary romance, THE ODDS OF YOU!

It feels like it was just yesterday when I started sharing teasers of this book with y’all, but it’s actually been THREE years. THREE years of you patiently waiting (and screaming on the internet) for this book, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for stepping into this new genre with me, friends. For calling your bookstores and libraries, for giving me friendship bracelets about Odds before it ever had a publisher, for celebrating each and every milestone that brought us here.

I wrote this one for us. To prove to myself and to you and to the world that we can be our messy selves and still be loved. And we are 💕

When I set out to write THE ODDS OF YOU, I did it with the hopes that someone, somewhere, would see themselves on the page and feel a little less alone in a world that can feel so damn lonely.
