Cosy crime bestselling Perth author of My Family & Other Suspects, A Murder Is Going Down and - coming in 2027! - MURDER IS CHEAPER THAN THERAPY.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

MURDER IS CHEAPER THAN THERAPY is a thing that is, in this economy, maybe true. It’s also the name of my first adult murder mystery - with jokes! - which comes out next year with @allenandunwin and this is the glorious cover (designed by the brilliant @hazellam___ ). I LOVE this book and can’t wait to start banging on about it to anyone who will listen - and plenty who won’t. by @kateemerywrites

Two champagnes, a Diet Coke and an unspecified number of arancini balls later, I’m still flying high after winning the Premier’s Book Award for the young adult book of the year. Utterly chuffed and delighted to see so much love for MY FAMILY AND OTHER SUSPECTS.

Thanks to the whole @allenandunwin team (especially my publisher Anna and editor Sam) and to the WA Government for funding the awards. Congratulations to all the other shortlisted writers and winners, including @louisewolhuter_writer @gerardmccannwrites @alan_fyfe_poems @kelly_canby @emilytsokospurtill @whoisbeauwindon by @kateemerywrites

In this economy? My new book, an adult murder mystery called MURDER IS CHEAPER THAN THERAPY is out in April 2027 so you have months of dodgy promo to look forward to.

(A friend asked if this is AI and I nearly gagged. I will never ever ever knowingly use gen-AI and so this was made with Canva stock video and my dodgy editing skills) by @kateemerywrites

Me lately. (Writing books is my favourite thing to do. But for three weeks of family holidays I have done NO writing and a LOT of reading and that has been quite delightful too.) by @kateemerywrites

Via Books & Publishing here are some more details about my next murder mystery book MURDER IS CHEAPER THAN THERAPY for all those who have been clamouring (citation needed). This includes a photo of my beautiful cat, Mr Whiskerley, who crashed my author hesdshot photoshoot (no regrets). by @kateemerywrites

Just a dickhead dragging her family around Paris to find the French translation of MY FAMILY & OTHER SUSPECTS at Gibert Joseph. This was such a thrill (although I cannot stress enough that my book was not displayed… quite so prominently before my arrival). by @kateemerywrites

I’m sorry to be so nauseating but I’m currently in Italy - my first overseas trip since my 2012 honeymoon - and our place in Ostuni is so freaking idyllic I’ve been getting into all of the books. I mean some anyway. I’ve also had great luck in that I’ve only read one book I really didn’t care for (which I shall not name here because the author is an Aussie and I don’t want to be a bitch). by @kateemerywrites

Still pinching myself at regular intervals about winning this year’s WA Premier’s Book for my Young Adult novel A MURDER IS GOING DOWN. So I thought I’d break down what this means to me. @statelibrarywa @wagovernment @simone.mcgurk

(Also thanks to the amazing @adamkennaphoto who took my new headshots, including this one and my all time favourite which I’m saving for another time) by @kateemerywrites
