When we shot this campaign, I was 7 months pregnant...

...and while #paidfamilyleave has always been a passion of mine, seeing this project come to life in my house, just weeks before our first child arrived, made the issue hit home on a new level.

Now that we're emerging from what has been the most complicated, beautiful and deeply challenging chapter of our lives, I'm even more driven to ensure that mothers have the support they need as they return to work.

It's no secret that families, especially mothers, are in crisis in this country. Just last month, the #SurgeonGeneral issued an advisory calling attention to the mental health crisis our families face. A recent study by the #AmericanPsychologicalAssociation revealed that 48 percent of parents say most days their stress is completely overwhelming, compared with 26 percent of other adults who reported the same.

Next week, I'm going back to work full time at @littlebearcreates . I'm energized to support our amazing clients and build on our mission to be a positive force for change in the advertising industry. I'm also sad and overwhelmed by the thought of spending less time with my family. As a dear friend of mine reminds me often, all things can be true at once and we don't have to have it all figured out on day one. What is most important, I believe, is that we are supported so that we can navigate rebuilding our lives while integrating some of the most meaningful work we'll ever do... nurturing the next generation.

Happy Mother’s Day to the greatest of all time. For the last 2 months, she’s been our 3rd roommate, refilling my water 27 times a day, eating breakfast in bed so we can stare at Val, taking Fran on adventures and embracing hockey and Phish with Guy. I’ll never forget hearing the two of them giggle while I recovered upstairs and all of the little things that she did to make us feel confident as parents in these first weeks.
