Some lost photos from my time in Brighton. I will always be grateful for my time there, all the photos I took of the burnt pier at the beach...

It felt like such a bubble to live in though, and bubbles eventually burst 💦🫧🗯️

Introducing… Kate Hook!

“Kate is a Birmingham-born photographer who specialises in creative analogue photography. She moved to Brighton in 2019 before returning home to Birmingham in 2025.

Known online for creating viral TikTok and Instagram Reels showcasing her film camera set-ups and creative analogue photography methods, Kate has built a career by combining photography, digital storytelling and education. Her work has included collaborations with Nikon and Microsoft, alongside involvement in the wider film photography community through brands including Ilford, Lomography and Kodak.

Her photographic style has developed over a course of twenty years, stemming from a love of images that feel lived-in, rather than overly polished. Drawn to the unpredictability and limitations of analogue photography, Kate uses film as a way of slowing down, allowing imperfections, accidents and atmosphere to become part of the final image.

Since returning to Birmingham, Kate has also become involved with Darkroom Birmingham, and is set to be supporting the city’s analogue photography community as the space prepares to reopen in Autumn 2026. Across her work, she is interested in making analogue photography accessible, experimental and relevant to a new generation of photographers.”

Around this time last year, I was in the Jewellery Quarter shooting Enter Shikari’s press photos in the run-up to their latest album and tour. With yesterday’s announcement of their hiatus at the end of 2027, I wanted to share a few exclusive, never-before-seen photos from the shoot!

I was genuinely very humbled when the lads happily agreed to do the shoot in my home city of Birmingham, especially as I had only moved back barely two months earlier. These photos were taken at Warstone Lane Cemetery and the Rose Villa Tavern, right in the heart of the JQ.

This photoshoot resulted in my first billboard and magazine feature- cover included! I was so happy with the photos we got, and seeing them out there in the world over the past year has been beautifully surreal.

Following the shoot, I put forward my friend (and my darlin’ Japanese daughter) Akane @hyperbeamcatt for photo and video work on their Tokyo tour dates, and they went one step further and took her all over Australia too❤️

If you’d told me when I was 16, seeing them live in Brum, that one day I’d be taking their press photos, I never would have believed you! Thank you to everyone who was involved, especially their team for making it all happen.

I’ll always be incredibly grateful for the opportunity Enter Shikari gave me. I wish each of the lads nothing but the best for the future ❤️ taken in Jewellery Quarter by @kateh00k
