Just over a month ago, our family tragically and unexpectedly lost my father-in-law.

I still don’t know how to put into words the heartbreak of losing him. There are moments when it doesn’t feel real, and moments when the weight of his absence feels incredibly heavy to carry.

I loved him dearly.

He was a man who spent his life pointing others toward Christ.

He baptized me. He married me to his oldest son. He was there for some of the most sacred moments of my life, and I will forever count it a blessing that God chose him to be my father-in-law.

I am grateful for the hope of Heaven. But my heart aches as I wrestle with the grief and loss on this side of eternity.

Our third son—a living testament of God’s provision, His perfect timing, and His unwavering faithfulness. We pray that Carter will carry the hope of Christ wherever he goes, walk humbly with the Lord, and always remember that the God who heard our prayers is the same God who will faithfully guide every step of his life.

It’s been almost 2 weeks since I’ve had the cerclage removed and here we are…farther than I’ve ever made it before.

Between my family being in CA and Ethan’s immediate family going away on a cruise when I’m due (or freshly postpartum), we’ve known we would have limited support once our little guy arrives. So, I’ve been doing my best to prep as much as possible in between chasing around our 2 & 3 year old boys.

We hit some big milestones this past week & it’s not lost on me how blessed we are to be able to focus on preparing for this next season we’re about to enter.

Here’s what I’ve realistically been able to prepare and have stocked in the freezer so far:
•bacon&egg breakfast casserole
•hearty beef stew
•chicken soup base (we’ll cook and add fresh noodles when reheating)
•several sourdough loaves
•lactation cookie bites
•peanut butter bars
•maple marshmallows

The Lord has provided us with friends who are also putting together a meal train that will bless us incredibly.

With unexpectedly navigating the NICU during my last postpartum season, I’m feeling grateful for already having nourishment stocked in my freezer ensuring my future self and family are well fed.

Our own little family time capsule.

From just the two of us holding a tiny ultrasound and dreaming of the family we’d become. Now we stand here with full arms, grateful hearts, and another little one on the way.

What a gift it is to watch God’s promises unfold one season at a time.

I am so thankful for how you have carried me here.

You have carried me farther
than fear said I could go.

Happy 2nd birthday to my little warrior. 🤍
Two years ago, you came into this world at 32 weeks and spent 40 days showing us what true strength looks like.

To know me is to know how deeply you changed my life.

Your strength, your fight, and the overwhelming love poured into you carried us through the hardest days and still reminds me daily what truly matters.

You’ve made me a different mother, a different woman, and I thank God for you every single day.
