Throwback to when I performed the Queen of the Night aria for a winter recital! I never thought I could ever sing this song since it is such a challenging piece and I’ve tried many times years prior and I never could hit those notes. Though I messed up a couple times throughout this performance I am so glad that I could see my improvement since when I first sung this song in freshman year! I absolutely love this opera and this is a dream role guys 🤞trust (I know these captions are cringey shush) #opera #queenofthenight by @katelin_nyc

Performed “Quando M’en Vo” from La Boheme at Merkin Hall last night for the 5th Apex competition Winners Concert! I got First place for voice and it was a wonderful experience. I missed competing a lot and am very happy I got around to do it again! Also thank you to my bestie foreveaaa and her boyfriend for coming to my performance 🥹🥹🥹🥹I really appreciated that guys, love you both so so much 🫶🫶🫶 #opera #laboheme taken in Merkin Concert Hall by @katelin_nyc

Throwback to July when I performed "Widmung" by Robert Schumann at Carnegie Hall. Had a wonderful time but certainly got nervous when I had to get on stage. Thankfully I made it through 😅. Too anyone who gets nervous when they get on stage, take deep breaths and pretend there is no crowd and your just in your safe place singing for fun and when you come back to reality you got it over with :). Have a great day everyone #opera taken in Carnegie Hall by @katelin_nyc

Went to Sleepy Hollow with @chandra.kuberek , this trip has been spoken of for a year but we literally just planned it a week ago which really means this morning and we lowkey were going to beat each other up trying to figure out who’s better at directions 😔

Jokes aside, this was such a super fun day trip (I do not recommend anyone to do it in a day) it was such a blessing to see so many historic landmarks and to visit the town from one of the most iconic gothic novels 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ so many beautiful local shops and vendors too and we got to visit the SUP Witch festival!!

Went upstate with my sister and visited the Wassaic project which is a non-profit contemporary arts institution and also went to Tenmile Distillery where they talked about how their liquor is produced which was incredibly fascinating! 🙂‍↕️

Also it was a gorgeous day yesterday so I had to take a ton of photos (and an excuse to use my camera) 😛

My last performance as a freshman is finally done :DDD
(minus the juries but I’ll suffer through that later)
P.S. I forgot to wear makeup today 💀 you really get flushed out by the light if you don’t and I shouldn’t have been lazy

It was absolutely a wonderful year here at purchase 😭 I absolutely love all of my peers and teachers and all of my classes. I don’t even know what else to say, but I SURE AM GLAD I CAN GET A BREAK SOON

I drew a quick sketch of one of the most influential opera singers that ever existed for woman’s history month 😌 I recognize that I am late by a lot but I wanted to finish it eventually!

Maria Callas was such a powerhouse and revolutionized opera by merging intense emotional singing and dramatic acting with bel canto vocal technique. Her performances helped earn her the nickname “La Divina” (The Divine One) because critics and fans admired her extraordinary vocal range, talent, and dramatics in opera during the 1950s and 60s.

Honestly she is one of my most favorite opera singers and such an inspiration. I absolutely adore her and I know many other people do too.

I really enjoyed drawing her and this might be my only sketch for the year 🤣 I’ll draw something again next year but I feel the art block quickly creeping back 😔
