Pieces of Joy behind the scenes !! 😆😆

When I started on this film, I knew I wanted to tell a story that would emotionally hook anyone who saw it — not because it was overly sad or scary, but with some sort of overall positive message anyone could relate to. I settled on the story of a kid who's grand life plan hadn't worked out exactly how he wanted it too, and needed to look on the bright side of things to turn himself around.

Pre production started in mid november with the initial base idea for this film (which changed constantly over the course of the next month as i perfected it and wrote the script)

Filmed over winter break - roughly 5 separate days of shooting followed by two weeks of editing before I submitted it to UIL state in early Jan

Pieces of Joy passed through multiple rounds of judging over the next month eventually making it to top 6 (aka finals!) I was super blessed with the opportunity to be invited to the finalist film festival at UT Austin at the end of February and see all the other amazing films through the 5A and 6A divisions!

Pieces of Joy ended up placing 4th out of 690 entries in the 5A narrative category and I couldn't be prouder !! by @katelindirects
