I should probably post this here! My MFA show "Cornfed & Queer" is coming up on April 30th from 5-8 p.m. at Herron School of Art + Design! I'll have nine paintings and twelve prints on view, on top of six of my amazing cohort's innovative and diverse work!

This show is a culmination of two years of intense research and countless hours of studio time. Seven of these paintings were created from January - March 🤩

LUCE: A gallery opening for Kate Luce’s body of work “Cornfed and Queer”.

What an amazing turn out! Its amazing to see a local artist display their work and for the community of Indianapolis to show out! Thank you all who came put to support Kate!

i HIGHKEY have a MFA!!! 🎓

Going back to receive a Master's Degree is something I always wanted to do after graduating undergrad. I want to teach, mature my art practice, and finally find myself in the artwork I create. While news was an unexpected detour in my life and I learned a lot, I felt like a husk, not having a whole lot of time or motivation to create to my biggest ability. On the last day of working as a producer, I found out that I would be attending Herron in the Fall, and it had seemed like fate. An MFA isn't easy. I spent these past two years having emotional breakdowns, ripping my hair out, questioning my sanity, and getting rid of all my free time to paint and print until the early morning hours, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world!

These two years, I have gained some incredible friends who I love so dearly, created paintings and prints I am so proud of and truly feel like me, and have truly learned to embrace my queerness in ways I never thought I could. Herron’s Graduate Exhibitions open this Thursday, April 30, with a reception from 5–8 PM at Eskenazi Hall in all 3 galleries.
