I’m so thankful to have so many talented and gifted writers with us for this FALL edition 🍁

The next several days I’ll be featuring the talents and gifts of each writer who helped make Journey with Maker FALL magazine possible.

The next writer I’m thrilled to introduce is Katelynn Meisner, my incredibly talented niece. Her writing is not only beautiful but is also filled with a creativity that truly sets her apart.

Katelynn has a particular love for writing haikus, a form I also enjoy. Her ability to add a unique twist to her work makes her stand out among writers her age.

Currently, Katelynn is working on her first poetry book. Knowing that she writes with the Lord at the center of everything she creates, I have no doubt it will be something truly special.

Katelynn Meisner is a student at Wright State University, majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing.

She is currently working on her first poetry book called Deeper than Words. In her free time she enjoys reading, napping and spending time with her siblings.

Sister’s trip 2026!

New River Gorge is so beautiful. We had the best white water rafting experience. The hikes and views were amazing and love the food! I loved spending this time with my besties! taken in New River Gorge National Park by @katelynnmeisner

Fixing up a house
Requires a grand vision
And lots of hard work

My sister has sweat
Blood and tears in this process
But it’s been worth it

For, it was rundown
But now its transformed into

Writing update:
Back in the spring of 2024 my novel draft was only 16 pages, now summer 2025 it is 65 pages!! I am so excited for my future creative writing classes to help me out of my writer’s block. “Joyous Royal” will take many years to write, but I am so excited to see the story I wrote when I was just a kid come alive little by little. Transferring to Wright State!! I’ll be continuing in my English major. So excited to finally be a raider!

Summer Staff 2025!!

Working retail has been a blast
I got to serve alongside so many amazing people, it was truly a time I won’t forget.

As an introvert I was really nervous at first.
Retail is not one of my strong suits
but the Lord met me there, and put me in a position that I ended up loving. I was at the poolside making lemonade and drinks for campers on hot sunny days,
creating space for them to have the most wonderful time at camp
That’s what serving is all about
Giving up your life for others
Pouring out because you know the freedom that comes with the cross.

I asked the Lord to teach me something while on summerstaff this summer, and through these two weeks I learned so much about myself and the Lord
He was teaching me to be confident in friendships even when I didn’t feel that myself,
The thing about God is that he never lets you stay where you are at, there is always growth, and he helped me grow in confidence and rely on him that my confidence truly does only come from him.

The Lord kept reminding me that I am his and he is mine, I don’t have to belong to anyone but him.

He was also teaching me to wait on him, it can be hard, but I am learning that he always comes through even through the struggle that can come with following him, there is always grace in the struggle

Officially published!!(link in bio!) Who knew that my first published writing would be a written piece in a magazine instead of a book?

This is a huge milestone for me in my writing and such a cool way to share a part of my testimony. So thankful that the Lord helped me put into words my story in such a beautiful way. All glory to God!

That being said, I want to recognize my aunt @johanna_devotedtomaker .
This magazine wouldn’t exist without her and her devotion to following the Lord’s calling.
She created and designed this magazine, and I am so thankful she did! Thank you Aunt Jo for inviting me to write for your debut magazine, for giving me such an awesome opportunity.
I also want to thank all the writers that contributed to this magazine. For writing the stories that will now be read by other readers, thank you for taking that next step, for making this magazine possible.

God truly does give good gifts to his children.
