ART ROTATION: We’re so excited to welcome @katepaea back as our latest featured artist at Scout Marrickville - bringing the most beautiful colour & vibrance to the studio walls.

Kate Paea is a Sydney-based artist whose practice explores tenderness, memory and the emotional landscapes we inhabit throughout our lives. Working primarily in acrylic and oil on wood, her paintings sit between abstraction and representation, drawing on the rhythms of the Australian coastline, the female form, domestic objects and the quiet rituals of everyday life. Through layered surfaces and an evocative palette, Kate creates works that feel both familiar and elusive, fragments of memory that shift between observation and imagination. Interested in the ways memories and emotions are continually felt and reshaped rather than fixed, she uses colour, gesture and atmosphere to explore connection, nostalgia and our place within this. For Kate, colour often becomes a language of its own, expressing the moments and emotions that sit beyond words. Rich in texture and atmosphere, her paintings invite viewers to slow down, reflect and find meaning within the subtle moments that often go unnoticed.

A really special night supporting @nbws_org at @hake.house.

Hearing the stories behind the work they do was a reminder of how quickly circumstances can change, and how important safe housing and support is for women and children in our community. Since becoming a mum, I’ve thought a lot more about how vulnerable some stages of life can make you.

Couldn’t have had a nicer Saturday seeing all the creatives in a city that’s bursting with people and cultures, food and community. Such a nice breath of air and I would say that the Newcastle gallery is one of my top visits for galleries. It’s the perfect size for a wander and a deep dive on an exhbition. Looking forward to going back and diving in for longer than a day!

Saturday at the closing weekend of @mikehewson exhibition at @artgalleryofnsw

A beautiful family afternoon in amongst it all.

Today’s the final day to catch the exhibition if you’ve been meaning to go we couldn’t have had a nicer time. Charlie noticed things I didn’t like stained glass windows under the concrete chairs and Ifa loved the water tank lights. Feel like the second visit I really got so much more from ❤️ by @katepaea

What a Friday treat not only seeing my piece ‘Taste of Oxide’ find her home with Jaci but the styling being this GOOD 👏 👏 👏 and now I need this couch.

This is my favourite part seeing the works in there new space. It brings me so much joy ❤️

I got such a beautiful Monday call that the cover piece for the Field Notes magazine by @scout___studios had sold, making it half of the collection of Tender being now sold.

Grateful grateful! To the beautiful people who responded and connected with these works enough to want them in their homes.

Field Notes is such a beautiful publication. It feels like a collection of stories about people, places and the communities that make scout what it is. In a world that’s becoming more and more digital, there’s something grounding about this magazine. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more it made me think about why I ever stopped reading magazines made me want to sit in the sun and read more beautiful stories.

I’m so grateful to have my work included amongst it all.

A huge thank you to @scout___studios. Their genuine sense of community and care for the people they house is evident in everything they create.

And of course @beautox @lizaansell thank you for always making space for me and for building such a beautiful community. ❤️
