Mini review:
A perfectly chaotic YA read where the dream school ball goes spectacularly, hilariously wrong. 😂

I loved the storytelling format, with journal entries, texts, interviews and school newsletters piecing together the disaster one delicious detail at a time. It’s funny, messy and full of misunderstandings, but beneath the dark comedy are some surprisingly heavier themes around privacy, social media and toxic relationships. Amy’s carefully planned perfect night turning into an absolute trainwreck was honestly half the fun. A quick, entertaining read with plenty of chaos—and one very unfortunate goat 🐐

Mini review:
A New Kind of Beautiful is such a raw and beautifully written coming-of-age story. Watching Paige navigate the devastating reality of losing her sight, while trying to hold onto the future she’d always imagined for herself, was heartbreaking.

I really appreciated how honestly Suzy Zail explores the anger, denial, grief and uncertainty that come with such a life-changing diagnosis. Paige isn’t always easy to like, but that made her feel all the more real. This is a story about identity, friendship, resilience and learning that sometimes the life you planned isn’t the life you’ll have—but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be beautiful.

Une romance toute douce, originale et franchement bien faite à dévorer cet été !

On suit une jeune femme vivant dans un petit coin de paradis avec sa famille… un peu moin paradisiaque.
L’endroit où elle vit attire beaucoup de touristes et cette fois c’est un groupe d’acteurs qui vient s’installer… à côté de chez elle !!

Sauf que Lily a beaucoup d’aprioris sur ces acteurs et sur les gens riches et célèbres de manière générale qu’elle trouve méprisable ! Alors autant vous dire que sa rencontre avec Dorian et son groupe d’amis ne se passe pas de la meilleure des manières.

Mais avec le temps Lily va les découvrir, passer du temps à leurs côtés et se dire qu’ils ne sont peut-être pas tous pareils finalement… et peut-être que Dorian a un peu piqué sa curiosité… et son coeur au passage, qui sait ?

Ce que j’ai le plus aimé dans cette histoire, c’est le côté très réaliste, je m’explique : les protagonistes se rencontre aux vacances d’hiver, puis chacun repart à sa vie normale après cela : le cour normal des chose car si on rencontrait une célébrité en vacances demain, et bien on ne la reverrait plus non plus après !
Et ça change des histoires trop rapides, ou rendues un peu trop farfelues exprès pour que les protagonistes restent en contact alors que ça ne serait pas très crédible dans la vraie vie !

Par la suite ils vont se retrouver car Lily avait un voyage à Los Angeles de prévu, et l’ami chez qui elle est logé travaille dans le monde du cinéma… ce qui va l’amener à recroiser Dorian bien évidemment ! Mais tout ça de façon naturelle et sympathique.

Ils vont alors à Los Angeles enchaîner les petits moment ensemble jusqu’à se rapprocher de plus en plus et passer au delà de leurs préjugés pour s’ouvrir à quelque chose de plus beaux : l’amour.

Si vous aimez les belles histoires avec des personnages attachants, un beau développement émotionnels et des histoires de fond aussi amusante que dramatiques : vous avez trouvé le livre fait pour vous cet été !
