I took this portrait of Nico and Leonard Cohen in London in 1974. I was sent on assignment to shoot Leonard and unexpectedly Nico dropped by.

1973- W.H. Auden was teaching at Oxford and I was determined to take his portrait. I travelled from London and luckily that same day I found him at a cafe with two students and approached him for this photo. He passed away later that year.

I spent some time on the road in the UK in 1975 with @officialqueenmusic as part of a piece for Sounds with writer @jonhingham (‘A Riot at the Opera: Queen Triumphant,’ 29 Nov 1975). One day after soundcheck, we joined the band and management in viewing a promotional clip to ask our opinion. We all agreed that the clip was “pretty good.” That clip was “Bohemian Rhapsody,” one of the most popular music videos of all time (currently close to 2B plays). Photo © Kate Simon
