breaking the fast! SO much on the table this year including my first attempt at homemade gravlax. attendees can weigh in below but i think it was a success and i would totally do it again. THE SPREAD:

kate’s… bakes??? commemorating the end of an era and all of our sweet petworth memories with a sweet treat! shoutout to the shep house, and shoutout to the very nice ladies in the deli department at giant for giving me a cake box to transport this after the lady in the whole foods bakery department was VERY mean to me for making the same request.

last minute sunset grill sesh to celebrate the removal of the very sick old tree that has made our backyard unlivable all summer! shoutout to our landlord for real. cheers to him, and cheers to many more sunset dinners enjoyed in the backyard to come! rest in piss Rat Tree, you will NOT be missed. after TWO MONTHS of being overwhelmed by boxes, ikea trips, travel, and career changes, ben and i both have truly been “eating to live” not “living to eat.” i am SO TIRED of take out and SO HAPPY to return to the feed for the first time in the new and improved kate’s plates kitchen 🥰

Snow day BYO chili bar!! I almost didn’t post this because Texas chili is so inherently ugly (all meat no beans) and vegan cheese is ALSO ugly since it doesn’t quite melt the way real cheese does. But I’m lactose intolerant and @mamasalk’s Texas chili recipe is so delish it deserves a permanent spot on the feed. by @katesplatessss

sungold tomato pasta and seared scallops with homemade basil oil OR pesto 🤤 i made this twice in one week— two attempts at the same dish in an effort to perfect it. the perfect version is probably some mix of the two but the price of scallops prohibited a third attempt. next tomato season we’ll get attempt #3 with a more structurally sound pesto-ish sauce by @katesplatessss
