POSTS STORIES REELS

Last day of school hols at the Show. Saw ponies and shearing and baby goats and dog recalls, got assaulted by hungry goats at the animal nursery, got a scone from the Country Womens Association, went on rides (Rory could've done a few or a hundred more), got show bags, admired the crafts, and -- struggled to find a coffee cart this year?! by @kateswriting

Trip to the snow this year featured not actually that much snow, sore legs, cold beer, hot chocolate, fresh baked cookies, eggnog, walks in the snow gums, bird spotting, The Man From Snowy River, a nail biting Bulldogs vs Magpies game, and a full moon. The high country is so beautiful and we can't wait to go back next year. by @kateswriting

Last night's dinner ... that I'm considering doing for dinner again tonight.

(PSA the smoked gouda & jalapeno dip from Chris's Heritage - sprinkled with chili flakes - is vv tasty) by @kateswriting

Will always be a fan of brown and black. Featuring well worn mandatory black puffer coat. You're not actually allowed to call yourself a melburnian if you don't have one, it's the law, sorry I don't make the rules.

Anyway, now I feel like a liquorice bullet or ten. by @kateswriting

Zoo visit this weekend - we wanted to see the snow leopard cubs! Especially as a circa 2017 snow leopard teddy from the zoo is still well loved in our house. I have fond memories of taking the boys to the zoo every single week when they were little, which is slightly baffling as I also have many memories of trying to chase after my oldest, shrieking his name, as he took off any which way (roped off areas? "staff only"? all meaningless to this toddler) - trying to navigate pram & baby through the crowds he'd just neatly dodged - wondering if I would end up as vilified as that woman whose kid got into a gorilla enclosure that one time. (I mean, really, zoos should use determined 4 year olds to stress test enclosures.) I used to watch people whose kids walked beside them - walked beside them!! - wondering how such magic occurred. And suddenly here we are. Staying on the paths, together. Still adoring the snow leopards, the seals and penguins, the giraffes, Felix the pygmy hippo. It just took a few years... Years which went by in the blink of an eye. by @kateswriting

Winter feast to celebrate the solstice - we had roast beef with crispy duck fat potatoes, green beans, mashed carrot & swede, gravy, and yorkshire puddings. Dished up the boys' great-great grandmother's royal doulton dinnerware. Followed by pudding & vanilla ice cream, naturally. Good food for the shortest day of the year ☀️ by @kateswriting

Three autumn mornings ☀️🍂 by @kateswriting

Happy Easter! And happy autumn dessert season (my favourite season!) Here we have hot cross bun pudding with chocolate and pears, served with cream and raspberries. Nom! by @kateswriting

I am officially falling apart! Getting decrepit! Knees and elbows kaput, first pair of reading glasses, what next? Yelling at kids to get off the lawn? by @kateswriting
