El Salvador,

I had no idea that you would change my life in so many ways. Going into this week I had no idea what to expect. The way the week turned out was unlike anything I have ever experienced. The kindness shown. The faithfulness. The love that we were shown from everyone there was unlike I have ever seen or felt. We worked hard and put everything we had into building for one of the best places on Earth.

Gary’s story was one of God providing over and over again without fail. Learning how to trust God with everything no matter how much was the biggest lesson and blessing I could have received.

The friendships that came out of this week are ones that will last a lifetime. The time spent with this amazing group has changed my life in more ways than one. Seeing everyone’s faith has helped mine reach a whole new level. One-on-ones have helped me see new perspectives on life and relationships.

Thank you God for changing my plans. Thank you for this new perspective on life. Thank you for creating bonds day one that helped make this trip one of the best of my life.

Dear Kahuria,
Thank you so much for showing me what it means to be grateful for even the smallest things! Thank you for welcoming us day one with open arms literally with hugs and dancing. Thank you for allowing us to see the world through your beautiful eyes. Thank you for letting us dance and sing with you. I have never met such amazing and grateful people. God is so so good and I can’t even explain how much love I was able to see within your community. Knowing that each and every one of you living in that community loved us from the moment you met us is truly amazing and unbelievable. Thank you for letting us love on you and bring a little bit of your light and love for the Lord back home with us!! If the rest of the world was even a little bit like the people living in this community it would be a much happier and better place to live in! I cannot thank you enough for teaching me to be thankful in everything and to just let God in all the time! I love you Kenya!! I love you Kahuria! I’m a Lighthouse Summer Intern!!!!

I can’t believe I get to say this after serving for years with this amazing organization. Lighthouse Family Retreat is a Christian organization that partners with families going through childhood cancer to bring them a relaxing week at the beach filled with joy, restoration, hope, and rest. The parents get to meet with other parents going through similar situations and lean on each other and the Lord. The kids going through treatment and their siblings get to just be kids and get loved on!! I get to serve as the Flip-Flop intern which is the part of the retreat where the kids get to group up by ages and they get to play and be kids, while the parents go to the small groups called common ground. I am so extremely grateful for Lighthouse for giving my this opportunity to serve for an entire summer at the best place ever!!!

In order to be able to serve this summer I need to raise $3,000 to help cover housing, food, as well as the cost for some of families accommodations while on retreat. If you are willing and able I am asking that you help me reach my fundraising goal by donating, but I am also asking for your prayers leading up to and throughout this summer. Specifically that this summer would be a summer of growth in my faith as well as in everyone serving on a retreat. Also that it will be a summer of bringing joy into the lives of all of those involved and the families going through one of the hardest things imaginable. I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for this summer!!!

1/8 down!!!

God has been so so faithful this semester. Coming into college I was nervous and had no idea what to expect. Praise God for all that He has provided me with thru semester!! I have found the best faith driven community and am so thankful for the way they push me to pursuit Him in all things!
