Today I am investigating the Marine Algae collection in the Adelaide Botanic Garden State Herbarium.
In 2019 I was introduced to this collection thanks to a Guildhouse Collections Project. I love the areas where science and arts meet and that rich discussion and perspectives are shared. I am so thankful to be returning to this place after 7 years.
Here are a few images of marine algae viewed through a microscope to enjoy. I find them to be so beautiful and inspiring.

Kath Inglis has worked with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) since 2001, drawn to a material she describes as prosaic in its natural state yet rich with potential. Through the application of color, the carving away of surface layers, and the fusion of heat-bonded forms, Inglis transforms this industrial material into something precious. Her ongoing experimentation with carving techniques results in wearable works that possess the visual qualities of glass while retaining the unexpected softness of the PVC itself. Her latest works are realized in a glowing selenium pink—an intense vibrant pink that fluoresces orange on the cut edge.

💎💜New earring try on💜💎

How gorgeous are these new Rock Drop earrings and Hydrangea studs by @kath_inglis 🙌

Hand carved and coloured gemstone-like realness; these are actually made from the most unlikely of materials: PVC

Kath has a completely unique design and making process where she carves into the soft material with lino cutting tools. Pieces are then hand dyed, welded together (to create multiple colour effects) and assembled with surgical stainless steel.

The results are stunning 🤩 gemstone like translucent colour that pops and sparkles as they decorate your ear lobes.

We’re putting these out on display today, pop in and have a look 👀

Here is round 3 of my favourite game NAME THIS COLOUR!

I have gone with LimeBloom thinking about algal growth and splashes of colour.

This bangle is a bit tricky and I am so curious to see what you all think out there..... let me know

BTW - all the food and drink references make me ever so hungry and thirsty. I don't recommend playing this game on an empty stomach 😁

It's time to play my favourite game

NAME THAT COLOUR!!!!!

I have a bunch of new Ink-wash waterhole cuffs on my website but need some help with naming colours....

This one I named Pinks+Purples and I think the brains trust out here can improve on my lame attempt.....

I have a few more to put up in the next week so keep an eye out for more fun and games.

And BTW this really is a new process for colouring that I developed recently. Previously I made Multicoloured pieces by printing the PVC with cellophane. Unfortunately, my source of cellophane has gone so I had to come up with something new. ✨️ by @kath_inglis
