7 great places to grab a cocktail (or beer) in Oslo 🍹🍺

1) Ekebergrestauranten - Their outdoor terrace has a great view over Oslo. Perfect spritz (and their pizzas looked amazing too!)

2) Hammerhai - This colorful bar has a lovely outdoor area in the new area Bjørvika. The interior is funky and fun too!

3) Villa Paradiso - More of a restaurant, but great selection of spritzes and why not grab a pizza or pasta at their spacious outdoor dining area?

4) Beer Palace - Yes, they have beer! But they also do cocktails. Like this tasty capirinha! My favorite spot is their cute little outdoor balcony with a view!

5) Underbar - Just downstairs and below Beer Palace you find this cocktail bar with unlimited different liquors and spirits! The basil smash is much recommended!

6) Vippa - This food hall in a old warehouse building has the perfect location at the end of an pier. Big outdoor area to enjoy the sun and the sea!

7) Munch bar - At the top of the Munch museum you will find this cool, but small rooftop bar with an amazing view! Good selection of spritz here as well! taken in Oslo, Norway by @kathinoslo

Oslo vibes and photo dump 🐅📸

1) The colorful Kvadraturen in the city center
2) Cold mornings waiting for the metro
3) The Munch museum - highly debated (ugly or cool?)
4) The Opera - the very popular roof (you have a great view from the top) is closed off for the winter
5) Sørenga - some brave people still go for a swim here
6) I crave Caesar salads from time to time - here at Døgnvill
7) You will find other artists than Munch at the Munch museum as well
8) And some interactive installations for the kids (or creative ones)
9) The dominating and well-known pink building Havnelageret (the dock storage)
10) The Munch museum has some great views through the enormous windows

Past week ✨
Nothing fancy, just small things that made me smile lately 🤍

🍪 Treating myself to Soulcake cookies (as someone who has tried Crumbl multiple times I can tell you that these are 💯 times better!)
📚 Second book of the year! This one was funny, but so absurd (how does the author even come up with the story.. don’t want to know 🙈)
🧴I love organizing my skincare products and change it up to match the season and my mood. That way every product is in rotation and no one is left behind 🥹

🏮 Dinner with my mom at YumCha - you feel like you are transported into a different time and place.
🥟 …where we had Dim Sum
🥃 An Italian aperitif with a good friend
🍕 ..followed by great pizza at Casa Pisano
🌎 Trying to make sense of it all at an event where Dagens Næringsliv tried to review the year that changed the US and the world.
⛸️ My very hardcore rental ice skates at Voldsløkka ice rink
🛍️ Moniker is always such a cool and inspiring place to go shopping (or in my case…window shopping)

And then the snow came ❄️🌨️
And just like that… it left 🩶☔️

Cancelled winter activity days, skating rinks melting away.
January is such a rollercoaster - shifting from freezing cold and snow so crisp it crackles under your shoes, to rain, slush and a grey, slippery, gloomy landscape.

Trying to hold on to small pieces of joy, even knowing we still have two long months of this unpredictable weather ahead.

I love this line from First Aid Kit’s Emmylou:
“Stockholm’s cold, but I’ve been told
I was born to endure this kind of weather.”
Still, I can’t help feeling like I was meant to be born in a completely different climate. I’ve never been a winter girl — but I do try to appreciate all the seasons, not just long for summer 🤍

Recap of the week:

📚 Finished my first book of the year.

Hello new week! 👋🏻
.
.
It was very hard going from a full vacation mode to full work week! Late nights and red wine in exchange of early mornings and herbal tea 🥱
.
All around me I heard conversations of how people want to reduce screen time and read more books, and make more sensible purchases (and selling their old stuff on Finn - which is the Norwegian equivalent of Vinted). It’s kind of comforting to hear strangers sharing the exact same experiences, plans and wishes for the next year. I mean we all want to be better versions of ourselves and we all know what we have to do, still we «mess up» and maybe even go back to old habits over time. But that makes us human.
.
I tried changing scrolling at bedtime for a book, and I’m almost halfway through it already! 📚
I’ve been also making all meals from bottom including more fish and vegetables, and eaten more varied than in a long time. I know - it’s week one and I’m very optimistic- but I will try my best to keep it up!
.
My first full week of the new year was 1) freezing cold and 2) had small moments of joy such as:
.
1) Seeing the new cute Jellycat Valentine’s collection - want them all 😍
2) Pancakes for Sunday breakfast 🥞
3) The perfect stack 🤩
4) Lush having their yearly sale! 🧼
5) I pass this Christmas tree to and from work, it lights up the mood 🎄
6) Trying to resist these temptations on my way to work 🤤
7) Seeing people take advantage of the snow (you never know how long it stays - these days could be it) ⛷️
8) The sun setting a Sunday afternoon at our nearby park. Cold, but beautiful! ❄️

Okay, we did it! First week done! Let’s tackle the next one! ☝🏼

The first week(end) of the new year! We were so lucky to be invited to a cabin in the mountains for new year🏔️
Cross-country skiing, cold winter weather (-27 effective Celsius degrees) 🥶, making s’mores on open fire, board games, late nights (mornings 🫣), red wine and home to a Christmas tree long overdue and ornaments to be put away for the next 11 months.. The perfect start of a new year!

2025 was an incredible year, but I didn't just focus on the big highlights - I tried to appreciate every little moment. January 2025 was a month of healthy habits, decluttering, and enjoying the simple things. As I look back, I'm reminded of the importance of slowing down and savoring life's small joys. ❄️☃️

🛍️ South Coast Plaza 🛍️

One of my favorite shopping spots in Southern California is South Coast Plaza. It is a huge mall with mostly high-end and luxury stores, but some chain stores as well. Apparently it attracts from all over the world! It is really fascinating because it is so low key luxury and not flashy at all. The center even has two carousels and outlet area as well. If you ever visit Orange County, you should definitely visit Sourh Coast Plaza! 🤍

🐚 Laguna Beach 🐚

Whenever I hear Laguna Beach, I still get flashbacks to Lauren, Lo, Kristin and Stephen 📺🏖️ Back then, it felt like the ultimate California dream - palm trees, drama and golden sunsets! I was obsessed with this so called reality television series that showed «the real Orange County» and being there in real life almost feel sacred. Laguna is not only a place, it’s an atmosphere! Surfers riding the waves, cliffs meeting the ocean, little art galleries tucked into the streets and that laid-back style yet stylish vibe you can’t find anywhere else!

💡 If you’re ever going to Laguna Beach, here is my best advice:
1) Street parking can be difficult at busy times, but there is a free trolley you can hop on so don’t be afraid to park further away from the city 🚋
2) Heisler Park is a must for stunning views 🌴
3) The main beach is very nice, but be aware of the tide (talking from experience 😅)
4) The candy stores are overpriced - but cute 🍭
5) Some stores take only cash (the ice cream parlor) - other only card - come prepared! 💳
6) Urth Caffe had the longest line - even early in the morning ☕️

It’s funny how Laguna feels so familiar due to the tv-shows filmed there, but in reality it’s even more beautiful! 🤩
