Birthed another @bananamag baby 🍌👶🏻

Finally released a seventh issue. I don’t talk a lot about the work I put into the magazine, but for those who don’t know, myself and @_vickivibe are involved every step of the way in putting this thing together. We both produce each story from concept to finished product, sometimes we write stories and I lay out every page (some stories in collaboration with other creatives). Also could not do it w/o @ccongjuico!! I only have 10 slides but here are some highlights.

1. Cover art by the very talented @jyoonny. The first time we started from a physical work and adapted it for our cover.
2. Our forever collaborator @anrizzy and his love letter to Taiwan.
3-4. As part of our 8-part series on Asian representation in American Reality television, I interviewed Real Housewife of Dallas @tiffanymoonmd.
(Special shout-out to @anchovypizza and @_vickivibe for the rest of the package🙏) This story was extremely personal to me since one, Bravo is my personality and though our lives are different, this was the most represented in reality television I’ve ever felt and was the first story I’ve been able to create in my hometown Dallas.
5-6. I was also honored to interview @amritkapai from Family Karma and tell his story. It felt like home shooting him, his husband, mom and dad at his childhood home in Miami. And will forever remember the chai tea @lavinakapai made for us. In the process I also fell in love with @djdumpling who captured the most beautiful photos of the Kapais 🫶
7-8. The third story I wrote for this package was of @aparnashewakramani who was my favorite on Indian Matchmaking, shot in Houston, TX, my birth town.
9. One of my fave writers @e_diep writes about @demonslayer__’s revival of 1980s Vietnamese New Wave happening in the OC. This was a fun one to lay out.
10. The most fun part of making this magazine is collaborating with so many different type of artists. This was the first time we worked with a cartoonist and @yea_colin’s inventive brain took it to the next level with this board game concept. Also was great to work with our @beverlysnyc brethren 🫶 by @kathleentso
