POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
For as long as I can remember, anxiety and depression have been the hardest things I’ve had to navigate. There have been days when my thoughts felt so heavy I didn’t know how to carry them anymore. Days when I was frustrated that everyone else seemed to handle things so easily, and days when I struggled to understand why Heavenly Father would allow me to feel things so deeply. As I’ve drawn closer to my Savior, I’ve learned that the gospel doesn’t promise a life without struggles. It promises that we NEVER have to face them alone. My relationship with Heavenly Father and my Savior has become one of the most important parts of my life. I’ve truly come to know the power of the atonement. There have been so many moments when prayer was the only way I knew how to put my feelings into words, when the scriptures gave me comfort, and when simply knowing I was loved by my Savior helped me get through another day. My anxiety and depression haven’t magically disappeared because of my faith, and I still have hard days. But I’ve learned that I can struggle and still have faith. I can have questions, fears, and moments of weakness and still know that He is there. Faith is simply turning to Him when we’re scared, and remembering that even when we feel far from Him, He has never moved away from us. As I prepare to serve a mission, I’ve been thinking a lot about how Heavenly Father might use my struggles to help me love and serve others. I know there will be days when I feel anxious or uncomfortable. There will be moments when I doubt myself and feel like I’m not enough. But because I know what it feels like to struggle silently, I hope I can recognize when someone else is feeling those same things and share the gospel that has given me hope and the reminder that they don’t have to go through life alone. I’m learning that Heavenly Father doesn’t need me to be fearless to do His work. He needs me to trust him fully. While I never thought I would be sent to Ohio, I’m so grateful for a Heavenly Father who knows me better than I know myself. I’ve learned that it’s not always about where He sends us, but who He needs us to find and how He can use us to help them feel His love!🫶🏽 by @kathrynpeterson_

If you asked freshman kit…she probably would have told you there was no way I make it here! There were many moments where everything felt too heavy, and days where even getting through the few classes I had felt impossible! High-school is SO hard. Watching other people make friendships so easily while feeling so alone was a huge challenge. But I am lucky enough to have three of the greatest built in best friends! Not only are my sisters my best friends, but they are my biggest support team, who ALWAYS cheered me on and picked me up when I needed it most. It didn’t matter how rude I was to them on the way to school, I would receive a text 10 minutes into first period from at-least one sister telling me they loved me and hoped I had a great day. I will never be able to express how much those small moments mean to me now. Anxiety is real, girls are mean, boys cause drama, and honestly sometimes the biggest enemy is the battle in your own head. I was lucky enough to join hope squad my eighth grade year. Could I tell you what it was at the time? Nope. Not even a little bit. But now I know the main focus of Hope Squad is “a peer support group where students are trained to recognize mental health struggles and connect classmates with help.” To be completely honest, when I was asked to join the group I was already overwhelmed and didn’t want to be apart of something that felt so stupid. In fact, with the help of my dad, I wrote an email to our counselor who was in charge saying I couldn’t be apart of the group because I didn’t have what the group needed. Luckily our counselor knew what he was doing and didn’t let me bail before it had even started! Looking back now I think being apart of this group was more for my benefit than that of others. I learned how to reach out and lift up those that need it, even if I was reaching out for help myself. Anxiety has been a challenge for me my entire life, but learning what I know now has impacted my life in so many ways. Including making my mental health more of a priority even when it resulted in unfortunately sacrificing things I loved. With a smile, I made it and I’m excited for what’s next!

⚡️junior season⚡️
words can’t describe the love i have for this team. each and every one of these girls hold a special place in my heart. this year had many ups, downs, laughs, and many many tears! i’m so grateful for the amazing people i had behind me to pick me up when it felt like everything was at its lowest. i know i could always count on them to be there with a hug and a stupid comment to bring a smile to my face. there’s no different group of girls i would want to have by my side and it’s safe to say these girls are my very best friends. while we didn’t get the ending we all hoped for, this season brought us together and brought some of the best memories. thank you to my family for being the biggest support team. and an even bigger thank you to my parents for never letting me give up and pushing me forward.

shout out to the buckets for giving my cute squad a place to sit during all the games! #jvdemons by @kathrynpeterson_
