Giving voice to stories, reaching more hungry ears, making sure they feel everything.
Real voice, real human. Anti AI.

Hello! I'm Kathryn, or Kat. I've love stories, as you might be able to tell from this banner. I'm an audiobook narrator and voice actor, trained at Bretton Hall, and back to acting after a long stint in advertising. I have always been obsessed with stories - from books to films to TV and telling stories around a campfire - and to be making it my job is the biggest gift I could have given myself. by @kathrynsvoice
How can we work together, you ask? Very good question...drop me a DM. I know how intimidating it can be sending out for auditions (and I do those too) when you don't know what you'll get back and how 'real' many of them might be, so have a listen to my samples - they're just in my highlights. For narration, my British voice suits a broad range of styles from romance, YA/NA, fantasy, sci-fi, thrillers, spice, classics and more. Have a listen, and say hello. by @kathrynsvoice
Beyond my voice there's marketing. I come from a 20 year career in advertising agencies, and know how to build a story to promote what we do together. So whether you're a confident marketeer or a total newbie, I can help elevate how we promote our work. If you're working with me on something already...it's free. I'm also running Beyond The Book, a marketing course for authors so keep an eye out for when that runs and give your brand and book promotion a boost. by @kathrynsvoice
BEYOND THE BOOK is coming back! But when? Intake one was a roaring success, and I'm seeing the impact live on people's pages already. It's now time for intake two - but when’s going to be most useful for you? And when can you commit to it? Late November into December is great because you will have a fresh start in January ready to go. But it’s also busy, so can you commit to it? January is great because you’ll be full of good intentions and really want it, but the plan won’t come into fruition until February. What do you think? When’s going to be best for you as an author (Indi, self, or trad), who finds marketing at best an annoyance and at worst a horror show? #authors #marketing #bookmarketing #marketingcourse by @kathrynsvoice
Happy Halloween everyone!

Before I log off for the blackout I wanted to share the outtakes - there were MANY!! I cannot recommend vampire teeth for narration, but if you choose to try...good luck to you!!

This blackout (which might be a grey-out this time thanks to the US elections and also lovely people launching books who need our support) means that for the next week if you don't see much of people, it's because artists want Meta to know that they can't take our links, wholesale grab everything any of us create, claim it as their own, and train their bots on it. So if you can support by minimising your use of Meta platforms, that's wicked. If you need to keep going, to keep yourself afloat, no harm done. It's all good.

Meta are the TRUE vampires this year.

VAMPIRE TEETH TEST - DAY 4 - NOSFERATU Ok so now we're onto the last part of the story, and the OG, Nosferatu! It's deeply unattractive, more bunny than vampire (bunny vampire?), but wraps up the story more or less! I will be doing a bloopers reel for tomorrow which will mainly be strange noises and me grabbing at my teeth...and then the full story with my personal favourite teeth in-situ on Halloween itself. NOTE TO AUTHORS: this isn’t my actual narration, I’m concentrating so hard on speaking that acting goes out of the window almost immediately! And I'm just recording on my Mac because this was tricky! #halloween #vampires #narrators #authors #audiobook by @kathrynsvoice
VAMPIRE TEETH TEST - DAY 4 - NOSFERATU Welcome to Halloween! This is day 4 of seeing how easy (or hard) it is to narrate with vampire teeth. Today we go for the OG - Nosferatu, who has possibly the silliest teeth which spike into my lips a LOT and make me whistle! The reading is in the next reel so follow along and see how I do!
VAMPIRE TEETH TEST - DAY 3 - BUFFY Welcome to Halloween! This is day 3 of seeing how easy (or hard) it is to narrate with vampire teeth. Today is all about the Buffy - I honestly don't know how they did it, but somehow I also now understand the sketchy British accents as the teeth make everything a really odd version of RP. Tomorrow is all about the OG, Nosferatu...fewer teeth, stranger placement!
VAMPIRE TEETH TEST - DAY 3 - BUFFY Welcome to Halloween! This is day 3 of seeing how easy (or hard) it is to narrate with vampire teeth. Today is all about Buffy - all the teeth, like actually all of them, and they're HUGE so my mouth is very much full! The reading is in the next reel so follow along and see how I do! It's not great. 😂 NOTE TO AUTHORS: this isn’t my actual narration, I’m concentrating so hard on speaking that acting goes out of the window almost immediately! And I'm just recording on my Mac because this was tricky! #halloween #vampires #narrators #authors #audiobook by @kathrynsvoice
VAMPIRE TEETH TEST - DAY 2 - LOST BOYS Welcome to Halloween! This is day 2 of seeing how easy (or hard) it is to narrate with vampire teeth. Today is all about the Lost Boys - more teeth, and definitely harder to work with! Plus ALL the mouth noise as I slurp and unstick them from my lips constantly. Is this what having braces felt like? Tomorrow is Buffy, and frankly, it's a LOT of teeth which was massively challenging. Follow along to find out how awful it is! :) NOTE TO AUTHORS: this isn’t my actual narration, I’m concentrating so hard on speaking that acting goes out of the window almost immediately! And I'm just recording on my Mac because this was tricky! #halloween #vampires #narrators #authors #audiobook by @kathrynsvoice

VAMPIRE TEETH TEST - DAY 1 - TRADITIONAL Welcome to Halloween! So this week I thought I’d try, just for laughs, to see how easy it is to narrate with vampire teeth. Spoiler- it’s not always easy! I’ll be putting in vampire teeth from different films or TV and reading from Grim’s fairy tales. Two reels a day, one to introduce, and one for reading. TODAY we kick off the week with the classic traditional vampire teeth. It makes me so posh, and lispy! And the mouth noises are horrific already. 😂 It only gets worse! NOTE TO AUTHORS: this isn’t my actual narration, I’m concentrating so hard on speaking that acting goes out of the window almost immediately! #halloween #vampires #narrators #authors #audiobook by @kathrynsvoice
