The past year without you has been fucking torture. I wander this earth screaming and angry because I still cannot believe this is life. I don’t get to wake up with you anymore. Hear you roasting my customer service while I’m in my office and you’re in the other room playing video games. Sing, dance, laugh, play, and PDA make out with you everywhere.

I feel your presence everyday. Kyrie talks to you all the time. You send me signs. I know your spirit has never left us. But never the less, I miss you to pieces. I will always carry your love, your best gift to us with me. That genuine, all encompassing, delicious love. I will move with love in everything i do - just the way you taught us.

I’m so grateful I have had so many amazing years with you. That you chose me. You showed me what a healthy love looks like. How to stand on business. How to fight for the people you love. You were always everyone’s biggest supporter no matter how dire the circumstances. I know we will always find a way back to each other. Until then, I am going to make you proud with whatever time I have left here. Our family and friends have so many Greg-isms and it’s beautiful to see you’re still here..

MAUI…

There is something deeply special about the Ahola. Oahu was where I took my first solo trip. And Maui was very intentionally planned as our first family trip with the kids and my parents + chosen family. We celebrated life, joy, how far we have come. I unlocked a new level of myself… SURFING! (Me… the girl who used to be absolutely terrified of water). The culture, just like the land is so rich and lush.

This summer, I stopped surviving and started becoming.

I’ve carried grief, motherhood, loss, and a thousand versions of myself—and somehow, I’m still here. Softer where I need to be. Stronger where I have to be.

Learning and showing that healing doesn’t mean leaving the past behind; it means choosing to live fully alongside it.

A widow. A mother. A woman becoming herself again.

The man I love never made it past 39.

He never got to see his kids grow up...
He never got to grow old.
He never got another tomorrow.

And ever since, I’ve never looked at time the same way.

When someone you love dies young, time stops feeling unlimited.

You stop assuming there will always be another summer.
Another trip.
Another conversation.
Another chance to say yes.

Losing him changed the way I measure life.

I don’t count years anymore.
I count sunsets I stayed for.
Flights I booked.
Mountains I climbed.
Friends I made.
People I helped.
Moments I was fully present instead of waiting for “someday.”

Grief didn’t just teach me that life is fragile.

It taught me that the biggest risk isn’t dying.
It’s reaching the end of your life realizing you never really lived it.

So yes, I say yes more. (Not always yay, boundaries Kathy)
I travel more.
I love harder.
I lift the weights.
I take the photo.
I tell people I love them.
I chase the adventure.

Not because I’m fearless.

Because I know exactly what it feels like when tomorrow never comes.

I carry Greg with me everywhere I go.
I can’t say “he was”. Because he lS. He’s here. He always will be.

The life I live today is, in many ways, my way of honoring the life he never got to finish.
