“Clams Casino”, oil on canvas, 2023 was inspired by the actual dish clams casino. This piece was in my solo show @middlechild_gallery and since has sailed off into the sunset to a lovely home, but she will always be here in spirit ✨💚

Excited to be a part of The Awakened Infestation: AI in Contemporary Art @indyartcenter ✨👁️🦋🔳
*My work is NOT made using AI. I am interested in the discourse surrounding the subject and my work is more of a social critique on authorship, mediation of the digital, and paintings dialogue with regard to traditional art making processes as a symptom of its moment.
I am concerned about the death of discourse and the reactionary attitudes created by social media platforms to discourage people engaging in conversation about these pressing topics. I saw this show as a great opportunity to step outside of the digital sphere and engage with artists (people who agree and disagree) in a physical space. I found this to be incredibly beneficial. Thank you Indy Art Center for the opportunity and supporting this discourse and expanded dialogue along with so many other great artists.
-
My Statement:
Using traditional painting techniques that emphasize a nuanced physical approach and material handling, my work integrates imagery derived from computer graphic software and related digital artifacts.
I construct an artificial space by employing gradients, drop shadows, and flat areas to create an illusionistic environment that reflects the conventions of digital screens and representations of space. By choosing to depict these digital constructions, I am to highlight both technological advancements and the evolving history of painting.

I utilize these forms as references to an inherent optimism for a utopian future that has failed to materialize. This re-contextualization serves as a means to illustrate how the past continually reminds us of the futures failure in the form of haunting. With the rise of generative AI, oversaturation of images, and the lack of fixity through online dissemination, everything is becoming further disengaged from reality. This bifurcation suggests that there is and has never been more of a divide between the referent and the real, not only conceptually but in our lived reality.

New year new atmospheric martini painting with that old vintagey magazine feel. Remember that old purple brown black tone of old magazine ads? Mixing that in with with some abstraction in here somewhere🍸✨
