Christmas will look a little different next year…

We’re about to begin a new chapter - a chance for me to realise my dream of designing and renovating a whole home.

We’re saying goodbye to our little home on the hill - the home that’s helped me find my interior style, and given me endless opportunities for content creation.

Now, I’m moving back to the village I grew up in, and it feels like just what my soul needs. It feels like coming home.

I have so many ideas to share and there are so many exciting things to come. I hope you’ll follow along on our next adventure ❤️

There are SO many stunning, neutral pieces of new-season decor at The Range right now - all the bits featured here aside from the leaf print vase were under £10 too! Simple, affordable and totally beautiful. Their selection of faux flowers is especially great right now too.

When you’re in the trenches of renovation life, it can be easy to lose sight of where you are. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’m so focused on the finished spaces and the end result that I forget to pause, look around and appreciate the journey.

A safe home, in a beautiful location. A gorgeous family, and a fulfilling career. A reminder that everything that matters is in the here and now.

Never get so caught up in where you’re going, that you forget to notice where you are.

If I could bottle a feeling, I think it would be an autumn afternoon like this. A walk in the autumn sunshine, coming home to bake something sweet, and nowhere else we need to be. Ordinary days that just feel like a warm hug.

What October feels like…

Where the warmth of the sun meets the cool air. Pumpkin season, crunching leaves. Spider webs glistening in the morning sunlight. Autumn baking; soup season; spiced granola. Dressing for the season. A woodland walk, followed by tea and cake or a cosy pub.

If September was a feeling…

Something about this time of year just makes perfect sense. The fading warmth of the summer sun, the cooler air, darker evenings, woodland walks, cosy clothes, changing colours, the feeling of nostalgia. It’s absolute sensory heaven to me. My greatest source of dopamine - the best time of year by far, and nobody will ever convince me otherwise.

We need to talk about the ‘C’ word…

Christmas seems to come earlier with each year that passes. While I have absolutely no judgement towards people who share things early, I’m also aware how this time of year can create anxiety, comparison and a feeling of the need to ‘keep up’. It can really suck the joy out of it, and take away from what’s important.

My mental health challenges over the last couple of years have forced me to step back and completely re-evaluate every aspect of my life.

Last Christmas I struggled to feel any joy. But I felt content in the knowledge I made it magical for my girls. Now, I share Christmas content as and when it feels right for me, and not because social media makes me feel I must. Letting go of the pressure is truly the most freeing thing I’ve ever done.
