Home sweet home now, but I’m not quite ready to leave Seoul behind just yet. 🇰🇷🤍 On our last day we managed to pack in a little bit of everything.

We started at Gyeongbokgung Palace, watching the changing of the guard and taking in one last piece of Seoul’s incredible history. From there, we wandered through the winding streets of Ikseon-dong, stopping for shopping, lovely little coffees, and pastries along the way. I loved how this neighborhood blends traditional hanok architecture with such a fun, modern energy.

Then it was off to Hongdae for the afternoon and evening. Completely different feel again…young, creative, energetic, full of shops, street style, music, cafés, and people out enjoying the city. It was the perfect place to spend our last evening just wandering without much of a plan.

And finally, back to our Hanok for a little quiet time before our last night in Seoul. There was something really special about ending our trip this way…after days of exploring, having our own little traditional home to come back to made Seoul feel a little more like ours. What an incredible trip!

Stepping out of our Hanok and into another full day in Seoul 🇰🇷✨

We started with a traditional temple lunch where we learned about Korean Buddhist temple cuisine and enjoyed a beautiful, vegetarian meal. Then we wandered through Insadong, full of traditional shops, crafts, tea houses, and special souvenirs.

After that, we headed to Myeongdong for some K-beauty experiences. First up was a 15-step scalp analysis and treatment. It sounds intense 😂 but it was actually one of the most relaxing things we’ve done here. They analyze your scalp and hair condition and perform a step-by-step treatment. I would absolutely recommend it if you want a relaxing Korean beauty experience. Then I had a skin analysis with a Korean pharmacist… and she was not afraid to tell me what I was doing wrong 😂. Brutal, but actually really helpful.

We ended the night with bright shops and delicious food vendors. Seoul makes it so easy to mix history, culture, food, and completely new experiences all in one day. 🤍

Feeling incredibly lucky to be here in South Korea and to have experiences like this. 🇰🇷

We visited Changdeokgung Palace in hanbok with a tour guide and photographer, learning about the history and stories behind this beautiful place. It was my first time wearing hanbok, and getting to do it here in Korea made it especially meaningful. We learned so much, took some beautiful photos, and had the best time wandering around the palace.

Feeling very grateful for this trip and all the memories we’re making along the way. Can’t wait to see how the photos turned out! 📸 by @katiegcollectionofme

Thanks to Jungho for an amazing vegan food tour of Gwangjang Market 😍. Gwangjang Market is exactly what I pictured a traditional Korean market would feel like. Busy, loud, colorful, and packed with food stalls. Dating back to 1905, it’s one of Seoul’s oldest traditional markets and it’s still very much a part of everyday life in the city.

We tried vegan versions of some Korean favorites, everything was seriously delicious, and we met some really fun people along the way. 😃 Good food, good company, and a market we probably would have been completely overwhelmed by on our own.

Definitely one of our favorite Seoul experiences so far. 🇰🇷

Seoul was calling… so we answered. 🇰🇷

We traded our beautiful room at the Peninsula Tokyo for something completely different: our very own traditional Hanok in the heart of Seoul. A 100+ year-old Korean home with its own courtyard, tucked away on a quiet little street in Bukchon. This feels like the perfect way to experience Seoul.

A very rainy day in Tokyo ☔️

We started the day at Senso-ji Temple, which was very beautiful (except the husband got TWO bad fortunes 🫣). After that we explored the nearby streets and alleys and did a chopstick making class, which was such a fun experience! We got to make our own chopsticks and have them engraved, so they ended up being a special souvenir to bring home. 🥢❤️ Definitely recommend this! The company we used also does sushi and matcha making classes. It’s in a great location near the temple.

We finished the afternoon at TeamLab Borderless, a really neat and immersive digital art museum. The interactive exhibits were the best part. It was so cool to walk through everything and become part of the art. ✨

We finished the day with some souvenir shopping, whiskey tasting, and room service 😍. Not exactly the weather we ordered, but still a day we’ll remember. ❤️

Shibuya Sky 🌆✨

The views are truly unmatched. From the rooftop, you can see Tokyo stretching out for miles in every direction. If you’re visiting Tokyo, this is absolutely a must-do!

Before heading up, we stopped by the famous Hachiko statue, a beloved symbol of Shibuya and one of the city’s most famous meeting spots. 🐕❤️ Afterward, we had dinner in Shibuya at Masaka, an amazing vegan restaurant.

Before we headed back to our hotel in Ginza, we took a nighttime detour to Shinjuku to see the neon lights and wander through Golden Gai, with its tiny bars and alleyways. I did not enjoy this neighborhood, but I had to see what the hype was about!

📍Shibuya Sky tip: Tickets go on sale 14 days before your visit at midnight Japan time (JST). Be ready right when they are released because late afternoon and evening slots disappear almost immediately. Remember the time difference when booking from home! We had trouble with the official website, but Klook worked well for us. 🇯🇵#tokyo #shibuya #shibuyasky

Started the day at Meiji Jingu ⛩️, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. The forest surrounding the shrine was intentionally planted in the early 1900s and today it feels like a completely unexpected oasis in the middle of Tokyo. 🌳

The colorful sake barrels lining the shrine are another beautiful detail. They are donated by sake brewers from across Japan as offerings to the deities, while the wine barrels on the opposite side are a gift from French winemakers. 🍶🍷

Then we wandered through Harajuku and Omotesando, shopping, eating, and stumbling upon the loveliest little farmers market. 🥕✨

Some moments are worth developing 🤠📸

Last day: a wonderful brunch at Sixty Vines, a little souvenir shopping, and an amazing night at the Opry with some wonderful performances. We especially loved celebrating Randy Travis and seeing my favorite, Carrie Underwood. ❤️🎶

Day 2 in Nashville = 12 South + the Gulch for shopping and wandering around, then back to Broadway for another night of live music…and tattoos at JBJ’s for half the group because apparently some people can’t just buy a souvenir in a gift shop. 🫣 Nashville is perfect for a 21st birthday…but please send help for these old ladies! 🤠🍸 by @katiegcollectionofme
