2025 was a whirlwind. in the winter i fell pregnant, in the spring i married arash, in the summer our daughter was born, and in the fall she came home.

so much love! so much wonder! so much barfing! i probably threw up more this year than i cried or laughed. the hospital time was endless, as is my gratitude for my chosen family and the literal hundreds of nurses, doctors, and staff who kept my baby and me alive through my short pregnancy and our long stay in the nicu. witnessing my partner and cherished loved ones fall in love with our baby is the coolest, totally indescribable gift. by @katiemknoll

eloise is h o m e!!! she flew out of the house on sunday and was found today, four days and almost four miles from us in a community pool. she has been to the vet, and aside from a sprained ankle and being dehydrated and badly shaken, she is okay! losing a pet this way is every animal parent’s worst nightmare. i am so, so lucky to have eloise back tonight, and so tremendously grateful to everyone who helped in ways big and small to bring my small yellow baby home. 💕 by @katiemknoll

i wrote this story in 2019, the year i first got sick and my hands stopped working. i had to use this terrible dictation software to write anything at all, including emails to my students and responses on their papers. often i had to stop, because i’d be crying too hard for my dictation software to understand me. this is the only thing i wrote in that shit year, and it is so tender to me, because it was so fucking hard to make. it’s about love, and fear, and of course, a dog. 🐕‍🦺thank you to @oxfordamerican for giving it such a lovely home!! by @katiemknoll

we almost lost fable this week. we don't know how, but he was exposed to rat poison. watching him suffer from poisoning will stay with me as one of the biggest horrors of my life. he still feels pretty crummy, but he is home now, and expected to make a full recovery!! so grateful to my friends and family who closed fuckin ranks to take care of my boy and me on some really dark days. kiss your babies and hold them super close. some pics of the strong boy feeling not so good, but so much better. by @katiemknoll
