Why is it that the beauty of nature is immediately apparent to us, yet we struggle to see the beauty within ourselves?

✨I guess we forget that the same God who hand-painted the masterpiece of the skies hand-crafted us. And to think, He sees us as even more beautiful and precious than they are.

✨ In case you’re one of the ones who forgot, here’s your reminder.
You are beautiful inside and out.
You are loved.

✨ Tag your friends who need to hear this today.

“God’s splendor is a tale that is told;
his testament is written in the stars.
Space itself speaks his story every day, through the marvels of the heavens.
His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky, showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship.” - Psalm 19:1 taken in Planet Earth by @katietlove

What if all the time we spent judging our bodies for how they look could have been spent appreciating them for all they do for us? ⁣
⁣
Your body hears every thought you think. ⁣
⁣
✨ When you look in the mirror and berate yourself for being “too fat”, “too skinny”, “not strong enough”, your cells listen. ⁣
✨ When you compare yourself to curated, photoshopped bodies on social media and lament about how you’ll never measure up, your body hears. ⁣
✨ When harmful and untrue words are spoken by others about your appearance it causes damage if you believe them. ⁣
⁣
The thoughts you repeatedly think literally begin to transform your mind over time. The brain likes familiarity and will form neuropathways to make the same thoughts run on autopilot. Your thoughts form your beliefs, which feed into your actions, which become your life. If you don’t examine them, they will lead you down a path you don’t want to go. ⁣
⁣
Your brain is in constant communication with your entire body via the vagus nerve. Every cell in your body is part of an integrated whole. Inflammatory thoughts lead to inflammatory physical reactions. Is it any wonder that so many people who suffer from chronic illness and autoimmunity have also struggled with body image issues or disordered eating in the past? There is a reason why just addressing food and lifestyle doesn’t always result in full healing. It is so important to get to the root cause. ⁣
⁣
Being in nature has transformed my view of my body in so many ways. I have struggled at different times in my life with feeling both “too much” and “not enough”. I have had hurtful things spoken over me. I’ve lost and gained weight due to health conditions that were not always under my control. ⁣
⁣
⛰ But when I climb mountains, I realize I am strong even if it’s not physically obvious. ⁣
🌲 When I hike endless miles on the trail, I am so thankful for my feet and legs being there to carry me because I remember the days when they couldn’t. ⁣
🌼 I look around at the beauty of the sun streaming through the trees and the flowers blooming and I remember the God who created them created me too. ⁣

Do you have a tendency to wander off your path and get lost? Pay attention to what you pay attention to.

Take a minute and just think about what you are usually listening to, watching, reading, and exposing yourself to each day.

Negative news updates?
Constantly researching your symptoms? Unrealistic portrayals of the “perfect” home, relationship, diet, fitness plan, etc.?
Someone else’s struggles with healing?

How does it make you feel? Depressed? Overwhelmed? Stuck? Really think about it. Write it down. It helps to let it out. Jot down what you watch, read, view, listen to... Do this for the next few days and see how it all lines up. This is going to reveal a lot about WHY you’re feeling the way you are right now.

Thank about it: If all you’re exposing your mind to every single day is restrictive dieting, illness, health anxiety, other people’s curated highlight reels, drama, etc., that is ALL you’re going to think about every single day. No wonder you feel paralyzed to take action and your health feels physically attacked. Your nervous system is having a heyday!

See how sneaky this can be? You may not have realized how many thoughts were going unchecked at the gate in your mind every single day, let alone the unchecked influence they’ve been having on your thinking and actions. The mind is a powerful tool, but it can be used to your detriment if you don’t put some security measures in place.

Instead of wanting to know what’s going on with everyone else, wondering what type of diet or exercise plan that influencer is on, engaging in comment section drama, and questioning your worth, you need to refocus. Feet on your own path, sis.

Your life is about so much more than food, the label on your clothes, your job title, or relationship status. You were made for so much more. Your life is for abdundantly living out the calling God created you for. But that good fruit won’t ever grow from seeds of fear and comparison.

Power down for an hour.
Do some unfollowing.
Set some boundaries.
Quiet the noise so you can LISTEN.

Walk your own path, not someone else’s. ✌🏼 taken in Fishers, Indiana by @katietlove

2024.

Was it everything I hoped it would be?
Did I accomplish enough?

Sometimes I get so caught up in all the things that didn’t go as planned that I overlook all the unexpected joys and unplanned things that ended up being blessings.

There will always be plans that don’t work out the way you originally hoped. Dreams that don’t come to pass. Relationships that change and sometimes end. Bumps in the road and crazy detours that weren’t on the map. A wrong turn (or a few).

But there will also be moments of joy you couldn’t have planned for. Happy accidents. New friends made. Adventures that only come from wandering off the beaten path. Glimmers of hope that shine through in midst of the darkest valleys.

If you feel like all you accomplished was surviving, that is enough. Maybe 2024 was a chapter that didn’t seem to make sense. Sometimes we don’t understand what God is doing until we are further down the road. One day the pieces of the story will begin to fit together. The loss, the pain, the joy, the love, the wildness of life. I know it can feel easier to give up, but please keep going. I promise it will be worth it in the end.

If you feel behind, remember that everyone’s journey is different. God’s timing is not delayed. You are not too late. Nothing you’ve walked through will be wasted. As this year draws to a close, don’t let the plans that fell through draw your eyes away from what went right. Don’t give up hope that even if 2024 wasn’t “your year”, 2025 might just be the year that things take a turn for the better.

I hope 2025 brings you the peace, clarity, restoration, love, connection, and joy you deserve. by @katietlove

How are you spending this week?

The liminal space between Christmas and New Year’s Day can feel like a mixed bag of excitement, anticipation, overwhelm, and for some of us, maybe even fear and disappointment.

Some of us go into hibernation and spend time resting and recuperating from the endless traveling and parties. It’s a time to relax and linger in the coziness of winter and the presence of friends and family (or alone, for the introverts). It’s the ultimate “do nothing” week.

Other people go straight from the chaos of the holidays to running full speed ahead with planning for the new year. It’s a time for goal-setting, resolutions, and meticulously planning for every area of life to make sure that you show up in 2025 as your “best self”.

On the other hand, some people spend the week filled with grief over dreams lost and hopes deferred from the past year. They are scared to dream again. The new year doesn’t feel like it’s full of possibilities for growth, connection, and goal-setting. Making any kind of plan is like asking to be let down because the wounds of the past are still too painful.

No matter where you find yourself this week, I want to encourage you to give yourself grace and take time to slow down and reflect. It’s okay if you find yourself not knowing how to feel about next year. You don’t have to have it all mapped out or have a perfect five-year plan in place. At the same time, if you find it hard to have any sort of hopes and dreams, maybe it’s time to believe that life can be good again. I understand how difficult it can be. I have been there myself more times than I would wish on anyone.

Maybe this year you could take a different approach. You don’t have to follow the world’s message to strive for control and attempt to manifest your dream life. You don’t have to take everything into your own hands. You don’t have to believe the lie of despair that “nothing will ever work out for you, so why bother even daring to hope”.

The only certainty is that the future is uncertain. No one can predict what 2025 will bring. (Continued in comments) taken in The Well Coffee Roasters by @katietlove

December 21st.
Winter Solstice.
The darkest day of the year.

2,000 years ago, the weary world waited in midst of the darkness. In a culture of scarcity and violence, all of creation longed for her redeemer, the Light of the World, to arrive.

Now nature waits for the darkness to recede and the sun to return. The long cold nights give way to brighter days ahead. We wait in our own darkness, waiting in hopeful expectation to see breakthrough. We wait with longing for the return of the Son who will make all things new.

Maybe you feel as though you are in a season of darkness, waiting and wandering in the wilderness with no light to illuminate the path forward.

Waiting for healing, for a cure for the pain and dis-ease you’ve been battling.
Waiting for your prodigal son to return.
Waiting for a job, for a move of God and direction in your career.
Waiting for a child.
Waiting for a spouse, for friendship, for community.

Friend, you are not alone. Although you may be weary, take heart. The darkness will not last forever. Let me pray the faith-filled words of the Psalmist over you: “Yet I am confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

The Light of the World came not only to give us eternal life and renewal in heaven, but to bring restoration and healing here on earth as it is in heaven. Advent and the life of Christ is a reminder that things often look darkest just before the dawn. The darkest day visits us just three days before Christmas. The despair and agony of Good Friday came just three days before the joy and triumph of the Resurrection.

The lights is returning.
The King is coming.
Goodness will be restored.

I pray that if you are in a season of waiting, you will not have to wait much longer. I pray that the Lord would comfort you with His peace that passes all understanding. I pray that you will see miracles and experience blessings beyond what you could ever ask, think, or imagine.

Hold on to this truth: “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it.” - John 1:5 by @katietlove

The branch that abides in the Source bears good fruit. After seasons of waiting, growth, and enduring the storms, it yields a beautiful harvest. It was waited years since being planted to finally be fruitful. It’s not instant, but it is worth the wait.

The fruit is hand picked one-by-one with utmost care. Then it travels many miles across oceans and forests to its destination. It takes some time, but it is worth the wait.

It is inspected for imperfections. Only the good fruit remains. The beans enter the roaster, heated to over 500 degrees. It is intense, but necessary to prepare them for their purpose. It is tedious, but it is worth the wait.

Finally the beans are ready. They wind up in the hand of a skilled craftsman, ready to be send out. They are ground, pressed, and turned into art. It takes some patience and precision, but it is worth the wait.

When growth seems slow, give it time. When the pruning and refining process seems harsh, give it time. When you can’t see the end result, give it time. When you are in the hands of the Master gardener and artist, you can be sure that it will be worth the wait.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” (John 15:1-4) by @katietlove

Healing is a messy journey. At rock bottom you feel like you’re in the valley of the shadow of death. You either feel terrified or feel nothing at all. Then you dare to open your eyes. You see a spark in the void. It whispers to your heart “maybe today I will try again”.

You push through the oceans of uncertainty and the waves of change. Some days hurt like hell. The pain is too much. Sometimes you fight it. Other times you just float and let Grace carry you through. Little by slowly, you begin to believe that brighter days are ahead.

Along the way you realize you are no longer numb. You experience the whole spectrum of emotion. It scares you at first, but then you understand this: it’s part of becoming fully alive. So you learn to dance with it all. The grief. The fear. The rage. The joy.

And then one day, the light breaks through. You see the journey from the end to the beginning and you’re glad you kept going. All along, you were never alone. Hope was the spark lighting the way and leading you home. by @katietlove

This has been a season of learning to let go and trust.
A season of walking through the refining fire and being pruned to bear fruit.
Letting go and entering the unknown is never easy or pleasant when it’s happening, but there is always a reward for those who persevere.

Every time you are willing to let go of something, you make space for something new to grow. When you are willing to release old narratives, old idols, the things you run to for comfort and security, past patterns, and limiting labels, you open up the possibility for new storylines, new connections, and growth.

Change is inevitable. Ready or not, it will come.
Embracing change is a choice.

When you embrace change as an active participant in your life, you can partner with God in creating a more abundant, beautiful life. It will not come without sacrifice. Letting go of control and all you once knew will take courage. It’s always easier to hold on to the familiar and live in the illusion of having complete control. But after a while, living this way makes you tired and weary. Is it time to try living another way?

Don’t be afraid of the darkness and unknowns ahead. Don’t fear change and surrendering control. It is as beautiful and as natural as the trees that shed their leaves to transition into a season of rest and restoration. Autumn is not just a time of falling leaves and changing colors, but of harvest. Even in the pruning season, continue to hold on to hope. Continue to trust. Continue to shine and don’t allow suffering to dim your light. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”. (Galatians 6:7–9)

Let go of whatever you have been clinging to. Old limiting beliefs. Self-condemnation. Envious thoughts. Damaging behaviors. Resentment. Fears (of rejection, of being seen, of judgement, of love). Doubts. I wonder what beautiful things will grow when you are willing to let go. by @katietlove

When you truly embody the fruit of the Spirit, it is evident to everyone around you. That is the medicine. That is the energy that attracts and transforms.

So with everything in you, embody love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. This is not the way of the world, but it is the Way that leads to life.

Embody what love looks like when lived out loud. Whatever you speak, let love guide your words and let truth lead. Let your whole heart be ALL IN.

Embody awe and wonder at all the mysteries and miracles in the mundane. Marvel at your smallness in the vastness of creation. Marvel at how God still chooses to listen to each one of your prayers despite the noise of the world.

Embody joy and hope with reckless abandon. See life with curiosity. Dance like you’ve never danced before. Laugh until you cry happy tears.

Embody peace. Let go of conflict and grudges. Know that there is something you can learn from everyone.

Embody kindness. Whether you have great wealth or nothing but a smile and a helping hand, you are rich. Give generously and it will reap a harvest of joy.

Eating, drinking, working, playing, talking, dancing, laughing, living.
Be all in on every moment and watch how it changes things.
Live wholeheartedly.
Your life is your medicine. by @katietlove

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a coffee chat post. Let’s bring ‘em’ back! 👏🏼

What are you fueling your story with? Whose hand is taking control of the pen? ⁣
What fills the pages? ⁣
⁣
Do you let the voices of other people take hold and litter the page with their own false narratives, spelling out chapters of rejection, criticism, and “never enough”? Do your own fears fill every blank margin, distracting you from focusing on God’s plan for your life? Are you so paralyzed by doubt that you’ve walked away from the pen and stopped writing? ⁣
⁣
All good writers know that the editing process is just as important (if not more so) than the initial draft. Maybe it’s time you took another look at what’s been written. This time, go back with red ink. Get a little savage. ⁣
⁣
✨ See those hurtful words spoken over you? Cross them out. Replace them with what God says about you. You are called. Qualified. Chosen. Loved. More than a conqueror. Fuel your narrative with truth. ⁣
⁣
✨ See those fears that led you down a path of complacency and conformity? Rewrite that scene and take the path less traveled. Fuel your chapters with fearless faith and adventure. ⁣
⁣
✨ If you’re the one who’s stopped writing, give yourself grace. Then pick up the pen and dare to start again. You have a story to write; a story to LIVE. But you have to show up for it first. Fuel your story with purpose. ⁣
⁣
Just like writing a book, life is not a simple, one-and-done process. You take it one sentence at a time. There are stops and starts, rewrites and edits. There are plot twists, protagonists, antagonists, and characters everywhere in-between. You don’t always know how the ending will play out when you begin. It often seems intimidating to even get started. ⁣
⁣
Your story has a purpose. YOU have a purpose in this life that is more important than you can fathom. Don’t fill your pages with lies from others or from your own mind. Don’t put down the pen. Edit what you need to and then keep going. You are not writing alone. Get God as your co-author; He is more than willing. His ideas and plans are always best sellers. Trust me. Fuel your story with that. You have one worth telling. by @katietlove

I don’t know what you’re walking through in this season.

Maybe you are facing the loss of a loved one, a job, a friendship, or something you once held dear.
Maybe you are facing emotional or physical pain that feels insurmountable.
Maybe you have been praying for months or even years and you still have no answers.
Maybe you feel rejected and broken beyond repair.
Maybe this feels like the valley of the shadow of death.

No matter where you find yourself today, God is there. You are never alone. If nothing else, you have access to His comfort. He is always available. No prayer is too much for Him. No one is beyond repair for the Great Physician. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

“I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust’. - Psalm 91:2

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:10

“I am with you and I will protect you wherever you go. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised.” - Genesis 28:15 by @katietlove
