actually today is day 6 but i'm not doing anymore counting - i went back to the Rothko because it got under my skin, then i went and dined in the hills above florence and yeah, its just like a movie - dolce vida babyxxx by @katiewolfe.nz

day 6 or 7, i dunno, stayed home and kept cool, i did some work, drank 3 litres of 💦 water 💦, the pallazzo strozzi was doing a midnight closing so i went and saw the Rothko exhibition at 11pm when it was finally acceptable to venture out. But Rothko was drenched in sadness, i thought, trapped in dark spaces...maybe im a bit porangi with the heat ....love love loved it.... by @katiewolfe.nz

day 4 or something started out brilliantly, i booked early and got to see David and it really is special, Michelangelo only 24 when he audaciously carved it, giving glory to the underdog, I sat with it for quite a while, then I went out into the day and it is just so so HOT, i cooled off in a restaurant, knocking back a bottle of pelligringo, that you sweat our in 5 mins, i took a wrong turn and ended up walking along the river with no shade and 🥵 OVERHEATED and thing about OVERHEATING 🥵 is it takes time to bring your temperature down, so I found a cool cornor in a courtyard while i waited for my friends to finish work, the coldest stone i could find and then this little door opens across the courtyard and some fellah invites us into his loft, very very COOL loft, in both iterations of that word and we marvelled at his art collection, I even spied a Māori antiquity...so im cooling down and we wait till 9pm before heading out to eat (another beautiful meal) in the hills that surround Florrence....but oh man....this heatwave is serious shit by @katiewolfe.nz

so somehow I have ended up in a cottage in an orchard on the outskirts of Florence which is pleasant because it is 37 degrees by @katiewolfe.nz

Day 2 of Katie's Spontaneous European Excursion 26 - well it's more of a work trip but came up through Rome so i went out for dinner and being a solo traveller you are guaranteed to strike up a conversation with someone. The guy with the tatts is Igor from russia who took inspiration from the movie Moana - fabulous I say - Rome is glorious as usual and only a balmy 32 at 9pm by @katiewolfe.nz

This is Igor, he is a russian with tottoos inspired by the film Moana - i was having dinner by myself in Rome (in transit), just never know who you will meet. stay tuned for Katie's Spontaneous European Excursion '26 by @katiewolfe.nz

last friday started with a sunrise maunga and flight, a fog river, a fog Tamaki, a magnificent opening of Constellations Ni Dekkers Reihana Jared Rawiri and Renaye Tamiti execute a meditation on love relationships and quantum physics - it blew my mind. beautiful fine work and the city looking matariki pretty by @katiewolfe.nz
