This year in Croatia at the Women in Leadership summit, I spoke of how I would not be the person I am today without having the influence of my Mum and Nana in my life. I gratefully stand on the shoulders of these strong women.

Nana was an incredible force. A recipient of a women's suffragette medal for services to education, a partron for Victim Support, a Teacher who inspired and changed the life of thousands. So full of love and joy. And she always did things her way.

To say I will miss her is an understatement. Yet I had the gift of spending lockdown with her and seeing her everyday whilst at home this past year. 3 weeks ago I asked her what is one thing she would say to me based on her life's learning. "GO FOR IT" were the word's that came out. "This life is for living, put yourself first."

Nana passed as I took off on my flight bound for a new life in Berlin. Life has a funny serendipitous way of working. Looking out the window taking off into the sky, just as she was at the same time.

So, I'm going for it, Nana Matija. I know no matter what, you'll only be one letter away from me.

He put his arms around you

And lifted you to rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful

He always takes the best. 💕 by @katijav
