Harvest update! I won’t have honey this year like I thought 🥲 i thought I’d surely have a little for yall. I went to harvest and saw the bees had started eating the excess I was going to harvest so I’m going to let them keep it for winter to be safe. First year colonies spend all of their energy making wax comb for their hives. Second year they can focus on honey. I’m expecting at least 40lbs per hive next season. I went ahead and treated my hives for mites and that’s going to wrap it up for this season. 💘 by @katkeepsbees

Broke open my hives today to see the two hives I split 6 weeks ago are now full of capped brood! They both have healthy laying queens now. ✅ I also added eggs from a healthy colony into a suspiciously quiet colony to give them a chance to make a new queen. by @katkeepsbees

I started the season with two hives and successfully split one hive in half and now have three. We’ll see how much honey three new colonies can produce this season. by @katkeepsbees
