Went for a walk along Carlsbad Beach. Unfortunately high tides are swallowing the beach and taking all the sand. But I love how the white water scampers between the rocks as the waves recede. by @katof_aragon

I want to grow as a writer. And I know I need to grow a tougher skin. But when is a critique being useful and when is it stripping everything you loved about your story down until it's some bland, neutered piece that no longer has your voice? by @katof_aragon

I just spent a lot of time looking for agents who accept text only picture book manuscripts to find out they were closed, didn't take picture book only text, or some didn't even exist anymore. And I used keywords to narrow down the search. I spend more time trying to query than I do write nowadays. by @katof_aragon

I love my supportive writing community friends. And I know I need a social media presence as a writer. But I’ve spent very little time online this past week and I feel much calmer and happier.
I’ve spent time with my family, did some research, wrote some, took an 8 mile walk on both Saturday and Sunday, and read a lot.
The negative energy around publishing was draining me. Writing wasn’t fun. And I was spending hours making posts that got 6 likes.
I will pop on now and then but my presence will be much less than before. by @katof_aragon

Sometimes to get the story to unlock I need to let go and just dissolve into something relaxing and repetitive. Lately, walking my the beach and listening to audiobooks has done it. Of course, I have to write everything down before it evaporates.
I’m loving my new notebook I bought in Salem, especially since I wrote a ghost story. by @katof_aragon
