I spent 12 years working in professional kitchens, including Michelin-starred restaurants, and honestly, this industry takes a lot out of you.

You miss birthdays, weekends, dinners with friends. You work when everyone else is resting. You get used to being tired, being under pressure, and pushing yourself even when you have nothing left. And at some point, you start thinking that this is just how life is supposed to be if you want to be successful.

I used to think that being a good chef meant being able to handle everything. The pressure, the long hours, the stress. But the older I get, the more I realize that it shouldn’t have to be this way. I still love cooking. I love the process, the creativity, the feeling of creating something with your own hands.

But I don’t think you should have to sacrifice your entire life to prove that you’re passionate about what you do. You can love your job and still admit that sometimes it takes too much from you. And I think more chefs needs to understand that 👩🏼‍🍳🔥 by @katrin.ame

I forgot to mention more..

I work when everyone else is celebrating.
I eat standing up.
My days off are never guaranteed.
And “I’ll be home early” is usually a lie.

But after 12 years in kitchens…

A new project. A new kitchen. A new chapter.

After 12 years of working in professional kitchens, opening restaurants, building teams and creating systems, I’m starting a new project in Bali.

This time, I want to take you behind the scenes and show you what really happens before a restaurant opens its doors. From setting up the kitchen and building the team to creating menus, developing systems, training staff and preparing for the first service.

There is so much work that happens long before the first guest walks through the door. And I’m going to document the whole journey. This is just the beginning😏 by @katrin.ame

I never thought I’d find myself in a long-distance relationship… but life had other plans for us.

We were apart for only two weeks, and now he’s already back in Bali with me. He’ll stay for a few days, and then he’ll fly back in Australia again.

I don’t know where this story will take us, but I know that some people are worth every mile 🙈🤍 by @katrin.ame

It made me cry over the family I never had…

I’m a very sensitive person, and I never really had the kind of family I dreamed of. My father was emotionally distant, while my mother was extremely controlling, and we’ve struggled with that our whole lives.

Watching this series, I cried so many times because it showed me the kind of family I want to build one day — not a perfect one, but one where people love each other, communicate, stay loyal, forgive, and always show up for each other. It taught me so much about love and family values.

I’m ready to start talking about this.

I’ve spent my whole life trying to prove myself. Prove that I’m worth something. Prove that people can be proud of me. Chasing that validation from people I’ll probably never get it from. I’m tired of running after it, because it’s exhausting.

I want to keep my ambition, keep growing, keep achieving — but stop trying to prove anything to anyone 😌 by @katrin.ame

Back then, I thought I was losing something.
I thought life was taking away the things I wanted so badly.
But now I understand that maybe God was simply protecting me from what wasn’t meant for me.

Because if even one of those doors had opened, if even one of those people had stayed, maybe I would have never found my way to you. And the most beautiful part is that being with you makes me no longer question why everything before us had to end.

You came into my life not when I was desperately looking for someone, but when I had finally learned to let go of what wasn’t choosing me. So now, I’m grateful not only for you.
I’m grateful for every closed door, every goodbye, every disappointment, every heartbreak.
