💭I’ll be honest, I’ve always felt quite ‘weird’ / awkward about my race and Indian heritage… Upon reflection I think I know why - (purely speaking from my own experience), being ‘mixed’, people & society often project onto you ‘what they see you as’ & that can feel quite confusing and out of your control. It’s like it’s ‘their right’ to know that information about you and to be able to ‘categorise you’ /put you in a box… I feel like I never really got a choice in this? A choice about whether to talk about it or not, but also a choice as to ‘what I’d be interpreted as’?

BUT finally this year I visited Kerala 🥹 I got to see exactly where my family come & explore my heritage & IT FELT BLOODY GREAT ❤️‍🔥 Realising that being ‘Anglo Indian’ was A WHOLE DIFFERENT THING?! ( I really need to write about this in more depth for substack 👀 - SO many interesting reflections & revelations 🤯 )
BUT when talking to my Nana when I got home, I felt like she encapsulated it pretty well when she said- “My favourite thing to eat is Dahl…and crumpets” 😆…& this feels like my musical version of this ✨❤️‍🔥

Sorry I’ve not replied to anyone for like a month 🫣 - I was busy doing this…🫠🥵😮‍💨🙈🛠️ (why isn’t there a drill emoji please?!)

But SERIOUSLY - turns out painting a boat is FUCKING HARD!! And it ended up taking an entire village 🥹 extremely grateful for my very, VERY kind & generous community ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥xx one of the humans being @hannahbodphoto who managed to capture some of the blood sweat and tears 🤣

I am now a PRO at angle grinding, rust converter etc etc & if I don’t get a job with @dewalttoolsuk now I’ll be livid 🤣💀

💭 Side note though - it’s nice being so busy with actual life that you’ve got no time to update social media? Also found it funny / strange how many followers I lose when I don’t regularly post? 🤣 makes me appreciate EVEN MORE the online community that stick around & share the same values as me of prioritising REAL life 🫶🏽

Peace outttt have a fab weekend, I’m gonna go sand some solar panel mounts 😬🤘🏽

💭 Will deffo use these pics again for a more helpful / substantial post I’m sure🫣… (so don’t remember them too hard 🤣)- BUT, rn just appreciating exceptional skill & creativity from what was a spontaneous 40 min dog walk with a friend? 🤷🏽‍♀️🤯

Sometimes it’s deep & meaningful & analytical.. & then I guess sometimes - it can be just ART?! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Learning that life on land isn’t ‘that bad’ this summer🙈

It can EQUALLY be full of nature, community, all the things I love… But just need to approach it with a little more intention and make proactive, CONSCIOUS choices 🥲🌿

Sometimes that involves forcing this ADHD brain to make plans in advance with friends & actually STICK to them 🫣😆... and sometimes its as simple as packing up a cooler of ice cold @luckysaintbeer ! 😅🍋‍🟩..

What I DO know though, is it feels EXCELLENT making proper time to get outside and being fully present with the people I love ❤️‍🔥☀️
