Hello there! This woman on a mission needed to give this an update 😅 💛

I’m Katrina Collier. A Gen X, Aussie Brit, Gemini, Dog-loving Londoner, inspiring people to heal past emotional wounds through talks and my memoir, The Damage of Words.

I’m a 3 x published author and 6-continent conference speaker.

Since age 40, I have worked with a wide range of healers and modalities to heal this life, past lives and DNA, and to open spiritually.

My mission is to show that healing from even the deepest emotional wounds is possible and to bring diverse healing methods into the light.

Both my physical and mental health were transformed, and now I am a messenger for the self-work. Because if I can heal self-hate and gain self-love, kindness and compassion, anyone can.

Happiness really is an inside job!

My mother’s words were like death by a thousand cuts.

A covert narcissist, she should not have had children.

My childhood was riddled with emotional and physical abuse, ever-present fear of the unpredictable rage, and the feeling of never being enough. I was unprotected by my father.

At her death, we were estranged. Yet, I felt this extraordinary elation knowing I would never again hear her speak or receive a message full of vitriol. (And relief that my siblings are free too)

The elation hasn’t left, and I am thankful to @deborahcicurel for transforming my ramblings into this compassionate piece for the opening page of @femail, in The @dailymail

I speak about the taboo to inspire people to heal.

If I can heal my deep-seated self-loathing, complex PTSD, and hypervigilance, to become the confident, self-loving woman I am today, anyone can.

Thank @haywire_100 for including me in today’s issue of Woman’s Own!

As a proud member of Human Authored from @thesocietyofauthors, I’m sure you expect nothing less from me when it comes to AI.

But as I shared with Elaine and wrote extensively about in The Damage of Words, the last thing you need to heal is a people pleaser or an AI sycophant. You need to gently challenged and a mirror held up to your behaviours and thinking.

Over the summer, I was in the studio recording the audiobook of The Damage of Words!

Of course, too many know my voice, so I had to narrate it but Santi at @rearwindowstudios made it painless.

Here’s a taster of my memoir’s opening words… and I promise, it’s not a misery memoir. It’s about the healing I’ve experienced and how that’s changed my physical and mental health.

(My mother died last year, but this is read as the original published work.)

The audiobook is available in all the usual places!

Dealing with narcissism as an adult is tough.

Dealing with it as a child is horrific.

Just because you think it’s a “trend” doesn’t give you the right to gaslight the experience of victims, especially those with a narcissist for a parent.

Very few are diagnosed with NPD because someone with true narcissistic traits cannot self reflect enough to see an expert and gain a clinical diagnosis!! But that doesn’t make the experience of their victims invalid.

The emotions I’m experiencing while grieving Banjo, are more evidence of the impact of my mother’s covert narcissism.

Giving myself permission to feel them is taking a ton of self awareness and effort!

But I will not bottle them, because that would impact my mental and physical health.

Thanks to fabulous @zettiehead the final 5 books found very special homes in Cape Town’s book swaps!!

Earlier this year, I sent the books to her friend in The Netherlands, who took them back in her luggage!💛

Voluntarily, Elzette then sourced and delivered the books to 5 little free libraries across Cape Town! So special!! Thank you.

What will you hear if you seek advice from a people pleaser?

Now imagine you’re asking advice from an AI chat bot.

Will it be sycophantic?

Yes! It’s been proven.

But that’s not the worst part.

As I wrote in The Damage of Words, @michellezelli held a mirror up to my behaviour. She saw beyond my words. She saw the wound.

She gave me the terminology I didn’t even know I needed!!

Thank goodness she wasn’t sycophantic and showed me how to heal!

Remember my plan to donate 100 signed copies of The Damage of Words to book swaps?

At 80, I burned out. Finding them and dropping them off was a lot! The calvary helped for 81, 82 & 83 🙏 but still my mojo was gone.

Which was not good as 96-100 were dropped off in May in the most wonderful places! 🫣

However, finally 84-95 have been dropped across Kent.
