New construction homes are a great option if you’re more flexible with your timeframe on purchasing a home. How long it takes from contract to getting the keys: Quick move-in homes: 1-3 months From a dirt lot: 6-9 months An average deposit for a new build is $5K and a percentage of the upgrades you choose. The remainder of your down payment and closing costs won’t be due until it’s time to get the keys! If you’re hoping to own a brand new home by this year or early next year, it’s best to start now! ✨ IMPORTANT NOTE✨ Take your realtor on the FIRST VISIT. Even if you are touring “just to look” — Most builders will allow you to have realtor representation at no costs to you. Remember the person working in the sales office represents the builder and your agent represents you. If you’re thinking of looking at new builds you’ll always want to bring your agent with you on your first visit.
