A mother can give a child everything, but only a child can give a mother something money can't buy—pure, unconditional love in the simplest of words. Today, my birthday became the most special day of my life. My sweet girl, thank you for choosing me.”

How your kids surprising you with their words? by @katrinatiora

Many people ask me how I find my inspiration for the "Silk and Jasmine" series, and why I chose to merge the rich heritages of Uzbekistan and Syria.
As an Uzbek artist born in that beautiful land, and married to a Damascene man from Syria, this collection is my personal bridge between two worlds. It allows me to weave the soul of both cultures onto a single canvas.
In these pieces, you will see a celebration of iconic botanical and cultural motifs: the softness of Uzbek cotton, the rustic elegance of Syrian olives, delicate Syrian jasmine, and vibrant Uzbek adras ikat patterns—all gracefully framed by intricate Damascene mosaics. Every single detail is entirely hand-painted, blending texture, heritage, and contemporary abstract decorative art.
The Silk and Jasmine series is envisioned as a limited collection of six to eight original pieces, with future visions and expansions on the horizon. This is my current artistic journey, bringing together olives, pomegranates, jasmine, Damascene mosaic, and Uzbek adras into a harmonious dialogue of fine art.

WIP 80% - TWO HOMES, ONE CANVAS
This is not a finished painting. The center is Uzbek adras/atlas ikat, the frame is Syrian damascene mosaic in progress, surrounded by pomegranate, olive and jasmine.

I'm a Graphic Artist, Diploma in Arts, and I paint world cultures & histories through my eyes. This piece from Series ,"Silk & Jasmine".

Still to do: gold mosaic details, varnish, signature + authentic stamp. I film every step.

Collectors - early list open before varnishing. Open to collectors & galleries worldwide ↓

A glimpse into a casual studio day. 🎨 There is something so therapeutic about watching a piece come to life, from the initial sketch to the final details of these jasmine flowers and pomegranates. What’s on your easel today? ✨

"The disciplined transformation of vision into meaning." 🏛️
There is a distinct difference between the joy of making and the pursuit of mastery. As creators, we move between these two states—letting go, then pulling back to structure the chaos.
Explore the slides to see how these two paradigms shape our work. Which side do you find yourself on more often: the pure joy of the process or the rigor of the outcome?

The history of art isn’t just about beauty—it’s full of dark secrets, toxic ingredients, and bizarre origins. From pigments ground from ancient remains to colors that quite literally killed their owners, the story of color is as wild as it is vibrant.

As an artist, my brain doesn't have an off switch. I can’t just "clear the table" or "do the shopping" without my mind instantly rendering shadows, measuring color values, and composing a still life.
A half-empty coffee cup isn't dirty dishes—it's a delicate study of metallic reflections. A basket of oranges isn't just a snack—it's a dramatic Baroque composition waiting to happen. 🍊
I wanted to invite you into my world and show you exactly how I see our everyday home. For me, fine art isn't just hanging on sterile gallery walls; it’s hidden in the quiet, messy, beautiful corners of our daily lives.
Which of these everyday "paintings" would you frame for your own gallery wall? Let me know in the comments! 👇 by @katrinatiora

Before you pick up a tube of paint, ask yourself: what’s actually in it? 🎨💀

The history of art isn’t just about beauty—it’s full of dark secrets, toxic ingredients, and bizarre origins. From pigments ground from ancient remains to colors that quite literally killed their owners, the story of color is as wild as it is vibrant.

Swipe through to discover the haunting origins behind some of history’s most famous pigments:

🏺 Mummy Brown: The macabre secret behind portrait artists' favorite shade.

🥭 Indian Yellow: A luminescent glow with a questionable source.

☠️ Scheele’s Green: The lethal Victorian trend.

Drawing beautifully doesn’t make you an artist. 🎨✨
Many of us hone our technique to perfection, but we often forget the most essential element: the story. Being an artist isn’t just about the ability to flawlessly render a form; it’s about the ability to tell a story that cannot be forgotten.
In my work, technique is merely a tool—the foundation, much like the construction taught in classical art schools—upon which I build a narrative. As an artist i don’t create "just for decoration." I engage in a conscious dialogue between tradition and modernity, weaving cultural stories into every design.
What matters more to you in art: flawless execution or the deep story behind the canvas? Let me know in the comments. 👇 by @katrinatiora

Blending heritage and canvas. 🎨 Today I’m showcasing my latest work—an exploration of ethno-fusion art. I wanted to capture the intricate beauty of traditional Uzbek Adras fabric surrounded by the architectural elegance of Damascian mosaic. What do you think of this cultural blend? Share your thoughts 💭 below 👇🏻. by @katrinatiora

Welcome to my studio. I’m Katrina Tiora.
As a graduate of graphic arts, I have spent my career dedicated to the discipline of the hand-drawn mark and the traditional canvas. I believe art should be a conversation—not just decoration. My work is built on concept, research, and a deep respect for the history of the materials we use.
On this page, I’ll be sharing my current series exploring the fusion of Syrian and Uzbek cultures, documenting my process, and uncovering the forgotten history of pigments and the masters who came before us.
If you appreciate art with intellectual depth and are interested in the journey toward future exhibitions, I’m so glad you’re here. Join me as I share the stories behind the brush.
