Stereoblind, self portrait.

A few weeks ago I woke up with a blind spot in the centre of my strong eye, so I wasn’t able to read or work. I had to use a patch to force my lazy eye to work again ~ and that made me accept the pirate life 🏴‍☠️

As a photographer it’s scary to not have your eyes working, but after eyeball injections and a good team of doctors my symptoms are being kept at bay. by @katrinbraga

I decided to use some photographs from my archive to visualize the way I see the world. It’s been a challenging couple of months and I’m heading into my third eyeball injection 💉👁️ and I’m doing anything to distract myself.

1. The way I see without glasses or contacts.
2-4. Central Scotoma in my non lazy eye, making it hard to read and distorts people’s faces.
5. Arcs of light that flair up on the corner of my eyes.
6. The crazies Canon camera that photographed my eyeball! Very Blade Runner. by @katrinbraga

We are so happy to announce our second feature film ‘Manhunt’ is premiering at Locarno film festival this August and is in the main competition for the golden leopard 🐆🏆! @filmfestlocarno - it’s an honour to have a feature film in this festival for the second year in a row.

It was such a wild and unforgettable journey casting this film, nearly six months of street casting and traditional casting to find this incredible ensemble. We couldn’t be more excited to introduce these remarkable young talents in their very first feature film. See you in Locarno 🌹

We are nominated for Canadian Screen Awards for our first feature film🏆

VAKA founder, @katrinbraga, has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award alongside Angela Quinn for Achievement in Casting for the film Blue Heron.
Also nominated is Edik Beddoes for Performance in a Supporting Role, his first acting role, having been discovered by our team. This work would not have been possible without the invaluable casting support of @haileypoolephoto

A sincere thank you to @sophyromvari, @sara_wylie, and @ryanbobkin for placing your trust in us! by @katrinbraga

Had another vision relapse due to my myopic eyes, a consequence of decades of nearsightedness and being born prematurely. I have a condition called “myopic macular degeneration,” so vision loss and regular eye injections will become a normal part of my life and something I’ll have to accept. I can never be too far from a good retina specialist and unfortunately there is no cure 👁️💉🩸

But gotta have some humour in it! My vision got so distorted that everyone started to have pointy witch chins 🧙‍♀️ so if I look at you funny don’t take it personally!! by @katrinbraga
