Our fire horse girl arrived kicking into this world at 12:22am on August 25th, 2026, weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz. Dad was certain of her first name from the moment we took the at home test, though I took a little more convincing. It was a name that reflected the surreal nature of our experience, one that embodied timelessness, regality, innocence, and, of course, a touch of whimsy and adventure, because if you know us, you know we do not settle for anything less. A few weeks later in late January, I found myself on a plane across the country for work during one of that winter’s most intense and historic snow storms. It was a rainy night, and I could see the water streaking across the window from my seat. (Rain while traveling is a good omen in Japan, and so I knew good things were coming.) We had discussed several different names early on (all very Americanized), but on that flight from Philly to Seattle, her middle name came to me, one that would honor the shared Japanese heritage from both sides of our families. Once she arrived last month with bright blond hair and gray eyes, it didn’t feel like we were trying to name her anymore, but rather she was showing us. The last stage I’ll share from before I get to meet my baby this month 🤍 July saw me walking into SHIFT 2026 in Annapolis and delivering “Evolution Is Your Edge,” a talk I wrote for rooms full of leaders seeking to close the gap between who they’ve become and how their brand is perceived in the market place. The bigger the gap, the more opportunity you’re leaving on the table. From connecting with @philmjonesuk, @owenf23, @wolfeofrealestate and @jeffbannan in the green room, to being so well taken care of by the incredible @samrodgers.xo and the entire SHIFT staff as a contributor and speaker, one couldn’t have asked for more. @philgerdes, you have, without question, gathered together an incredible community of professionals not only driven to shift and evolve, but to remember to be even more human each step of the way. I’m forever indebted to @jendillard for introducing us, and for allowing me the opportunity to pour into such a special group of people. 5 years ago, I joined @serhant as team member #8 — Senior Brand Strategist. The titles, responsibilities, and leadership have all transformed since then, but one truth has stayed constant through my time on the only rocket ship that travels at #SerhantSpeed: Growth is what you make it, and it’s better to grow together than to go at it alone. Stages. Screens. @netflix premieres. A podcast, @notniceclever, I built from nothing with one of my dearest friends, @candicecarcioppolo. Coaching and consulting programs designed to elevate price point, experience, and brand beyond what any one agent could achieve alone. When I joined in August 2021, I was living in Miami, FL, negotiating my offer while recovering from COVID for the first time, for a brokerage that hadn’t even launched in Miami yet 😎 It was #LeatherJacketEnergy, all day every day (#iykyk). I moved to DC a year later, in 2022, making regular trips to NYC as my responsibilities grew and I started speaking at our events. By 2024, I’d landed in Philadelphia, a city I’m proud to call home, where I’ve begun to put down real roots for the first time since I was 17, and my speaking and podcasting had grown from regional to national to international. Today, the brokerage operates in 17 states, including my home state of California. The @sellit platform I helped architect now reaches 50,000+ salespeople across 130+ countries. My life is richer for the work I’ve done alongside people far more talented than me, for their heart, their humor, and their vision, I’m forever inspired to keep going, even as I enter into an entirely new season. I’m about to take the longest pause I’ve ever given myself, stepping into maternity leave this month. One of the biggest misconceptions in marketing is that great messaging goes viral. It doesn’t. Great messaging creates connection. It helps the right people immediately understand:
• Who you are.
• What you stand for.
• Who you’re here to help.
• Why you’re different. If your content isn’t landing, don’t ask, “How do I get more views?” Ask, “Does my message truly reflect who I am and who I’m trying to reach?” Because the goal was never to reach everyone.
