Happy Halloween Dear Friends! This is me playing with my friend Scott Janssen (rock guitar) and a guest drummer on my original Sorceress of Storms. This is part of a full music video. Apologies; I am not that photogenic so avoid posting video of myself mostly. This song is about the dichotomy between my white angel side and black angel side. Which side wins? There has always been two sides of me that battle for superiority; the responsible and hardworking versus the creative and fun-seeking. I think most of us have that battle to some extent. I love both classical and rock so it's always been a battle between the two genres. Please let me know if you'd like to see the full music video. Happy Halloween Everyone and Happy Belated Birthday to me (10/27).....I have always loved Halloween. All video editing and post-production by me. Please listen on laptop so the sound is better. .......................................................................................Please let me know if you like this by liking, reposting, and commenting. I normally do something very different. #halloween #rockpiano #symphonicmetal #rockmusic #musicvideo by @kattstormmusic

Dear Friends, Here's a piece I've been working on along with a few others. I hope you enjoy this as you relax this weekend. I have been dealing with a big health scare so haven't had much time to practice or compose. I'd love to hear if you have any titles for it. Happy weekend dear friends. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................#originalcomposition #piano #pianocomposition #originalmusic #moodmusic by @kattstormmusic

Please let me know if you think I should continue it. #originalmusic #piano #pianomusic #originalcomposition by @kattstormmusic

Chopin's #C minor Nocturne; probably my favorite of these miniature masterpieces.

Chopin wrote his Nocturne No. 20 in C-sharp minor when he was only 18 years old and dedicated it to his older sister, Ludwika Chopin. She was his first piano teacher.
His manuscript dedicates this piece to his sister. It was originally conceived of as an exercise for help with his 2nd concerto. As Chopin hinted in his dedication, the middle section contains pieces from his Piano Concerto No. 2, which was composed a year earlier. He begins in bars 21 and 22 by quoting the main theme of the concerto's third movement
It was published 4 decades after it was written in 1830 and was beautifully brought to life by Natalia Karp, a Polish pianist held in one of the Plaszow Nazi prison camps.
Nazi commandant Amon Göth was so moved by the performance that he spared her life and that of her sister's.
The nocturne was also brought to the attention of the world with Roman Polanski's film The Pianist,
It was played by Władysław Szpilman, the real-life protagonist, during the final broadcast of Polish radio in 1939 as Warsaw fell under siege.

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, is one of the most famous songs written. Cohen famously wrote dozens of versions (estimates range from 80 to 150) over many years, constantly shifting the lines between secular heartbreak and spiritual yearning. It has been covered at least 300 times which shows the impact it has had on music over the years.
The song includes several Biblical references and utilizes the single word, “Hallelujah,” as the chorus. It’s celebratory, but also a song about the dark half of humanity and love. Love, though desired and cherished, is not just happy or blissful. As Cohen writes, “It’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah." Love is cold and dark but it makes us human. Pain makes us human. "Love it not a victory march. It's a cold and broken Hallelujah."
Do you feel the yearning and pain in this gorgeous song? I hope I touched you with my music.... #leonardcohen #pianocover #hallelujah #hymn #piano by @kattstormmusic

Porz Goret by Yann Tiersen....Bringing You Some Winter Peace in Summer. I'm getting in the mood for writing. Tiersen always helps with my compositional flow and ideas. This piece is taken from an album of pieces from the island of Ushant in Breton. Tiersen treats the island as part of his identity. It is a musical map of him. The album maps out ten distinct locations on the island. Each piece corresponds to a specific coordinate where Tiersen captured environmental field recordings before writing the music. Interestingly enough, the published score for "Porz Goret" includes exact GPS coordinates and a photograph of the physical coastal site. Hope you like this; sorry my camera is broken and my phone tripod broke tonight. Next week should be back to normal:). Thanks as always for your support. #newage #minimalist #emotional #pianomusic #pianolover Please let me know if you like the music by: -Commenting -Liking, or -Savings. 🙏🙏 by @kattstormmusic

Back from my Composers Today 2026 MTAC Award Performance in Los Angeles and working on a new song. This will be orchestrated. It's not really an improv, but I'm having trouble writing as fast as before. Hope you like it:)

Sorry to not be online much; I plan to visit all your sites and be much more active. I appreciate that you still watch my music reels. Thanks so much for that:) Work has been crazy but I have almost enough students to expand to a new location and hire a teacher.
Then I should have actual time for IG and more music. Yippee!!

Also almost done recording 4 of my older songs for Spotify (Requiem, River of Tears, Chasing Circles, and Coming up for Air) and other streaming platforms. They should be coming in August. Can’t wait to share with you.

“River of Tears”
Piano composer & Song lyrics by Katt (California) @kattstormpiano
Photos by Kevin (Canada) @kevinlintern
Pianist myself Elisa (Arizona) @taku.amrik

Dear friends,

Katt Storm wrote the lyrics and piano composition River of Tears as a piece about loss and the fading of a loved one with time. We have all lost someone we love, but when they stop loving us even as we still love them, it can be especially painful. The pain of losing them never really stops, though it fades with time. Sometimes it can feel like they never really existed and we wonder whether they were real. Katt will be creating a vocal version of this song in the future and posting on her site.
She chose her favorite photographer Kevin Lintern, to illustrate through photos, this longing for the pain of loss to fade while still hoping to see and meet the one you love.

“River of Tears”

Searching through the fragments
Through the cracks of my mind
Hoping for a glimpse of you
Just to Meet One Last Time

Tears Fall Like a River
Like a Storm in My Mind
Wash Over Me
Heal me from the Pain
Make me Free Again

I Walk the Streets Calling Your Name
Did You Ever Exist Outside of My Mind
Or Are you a Ghost of My Own Design

Tears Fall Like a River
Like a Storm in My Mind
Wash Over Me
Heal me from the Pain
Make me Free Again

Please enjoy our collaboration, thanks so much!!

VOICING Chopin's Raindrop Prelude (How to create correct RH/LH Emphasis & Dynamics). Dear Friends, as you know I absolutely love Chopin and emphasized his work in my university studies in classical piano. This video shows how to create beautiful voicing while keeping the repeated notes (Raindrop repeated Aflat notes in A section and #G in the B section) softer. ............................................................. Chopin wrote the Raindrop Prelude in 1838. There is a well-known story about its creation. Chopin was staying with his partner of some years, the writer George Sands (she used a male name as it was hard for women to get published then) at a monastery in Mallorca. It was old and drafty and the rain and cold air got into the room. This caused Chopin's health to continue to deteriorate. The story goes he listened to the dripping of the rain outside which propelled him to add repetitive notes to his piece. He was known to be suffering from hallucinations when he wrote this piece. The story of the "Raindrop" Prelude was created by George Sand in her novel "Histoire de ma Vie" (History of My Life) in which she describes Chopin improvising the prelude during a storm. Can you hear the raindrops in this and hear Chopin's anguish? I teach this piece a lot and it is my favorite prelude. Chopin modeled his preludes on Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier and they were a tribute to him. ..............................................................................................................................................Please let me know if you'd like me to do more tutorials. I also teach online if you'd like to sign up for lessons. Please like, comment, or play which will help me grow and I'll support you back. Thanks so much:) #chopin #pianotutorial #classicalpiano #pianoteacher #pianolesson #raindropprelude #piano #darkaesthetic by @kattstormmusic

Dear Friends, been busy with my teaching business and have had no time for recording however, the scores of Coming Up for Air, Requiem, and River of Tears are all coming at the end of June as well as recordings of all three in Spotify. I look forward to sharing both the scores with you and finally getting my original music on Spotify! Thank you all for your support:) I do not get much locally as Silicon Valley is tech central, so your words and friendship mean so much to me. This is an older video of Chasing Circles but I'll be posting a full video of Coming Up for Air soon. Please let me know if you like this by liking and commenting.................................................This is about not ever having enough time to do what I love (writing music) and all the craziness of modern life including global warming, overpopulation, and excess work.
