Hej! I'm Gerry, a basic artist living in Sweden. I started kattstudie to share my creative journey with the outside world.

Cats intrigue me. I am an aspiring cat, albeit being a total golden retriever.

EDIT: kattstudie (self-conjoined Swedish lol) translates to "cat study". 🐈 Why? I keep trying to 'art' and almost always end up creating some form of a cat. It seems my creative self loves the study of cat. 🤷‍♀️😅

What I will be selling at @leopard.en konstmarknad this Saturday, 9 may, 12-4pm.

This is ridiculously satisfying to hold in my hands. Made with fabric from a used canvas tote and embroidered with sewing thread from an old sewing kit. by @kattstudie

Been awhile. Creating has been hard lately. Currently experimenting with combining pen and paper with digital painting.

Also, perhaps im just stubborn, but I actually erase backgrounds manually; it's a mega tedious job and yet I somehow prefer it. Magic background deletion always cuts things weirdly to me. That said, I am not the best with shortcuts, so if there's a better way to do it, let me know?

Been pessimistic about being an artist lately. The money part is a toughie. I welcome tips and pep talk in my comments and DMs!! by @kattstudie

Jag har haft så trevligt idag!
Så många fina samtal. Glömde att fota mina trevliga bordsgrannars bord men förhoppningsvis får jag träffa dom imorgon igen på loppisen vid Stabby prästgård.

Jag glömde också att fotografera allt gott i @cafepadda disk. Det fanns körsbärspaj som jag inte hann smaka på, jag håller tummar och tår för att den kommer tillbaka!

Dagens caféskiss. Min pappa har alltid sagt till mig: ”SVÄLJ INTE KÄRNAN!” Enligt honom skulle konsekvensen bli att en vattenmelon växer ut ur mitt huvud. Samma sak med äpplen, päron, vindruvor osv. Men det jag var mest rädd för var en stor, tung vattenmelon. 🍉 taken in Uppsala, Sweden by @kattstudie

It's been a series of "undo" days. Shapes just feel and look weird to me. But also trying to embrace this whole phase of "mucking about" till I feel good about the product, whatever it might be/look like. Tomorrow, we try again! by @kattstudie

Another quirky blog cover art for @karl_zylinski . It's all coding, Odin, named return values, naked returns and all that jazz.

Drawing for Karl's blogposts is always such fun! Take technical stuff and make it crazy. Seemingly unrelated cover art but very very much related when you actually do look at it.

Lucky Cat plush is finally done and signed with a free-form hand stitch on the back. This one was inspired by my long time fascination (or obsession) with lucky cats that you'd find in restaurants, boutiques, and my very confused asian household (we have maneki nekos all around but also statues and pictures of Jesus, Sanxing (deities Fu, Lu and Shou) and so on...). 🙃

I was recently in China for our honeymoon, where we found ourselves in a God of Fortune temple in the mountains, filled with cats everywhere! It's thus mostly known as 猫猫庙 (cat temple). So it wasnt a surprise when the first doll i made after being back is a lucky cat 😅

What a work of labour these dolls are, but they are just such a joy to hold when they're done?!

I will soon begin on making Lucky Cat a "birth certificate" of sorts.

I'm hoping I make enough dolls to be sold at the upcoming art market hosted by Uppsala's @cafepadda on 19 September! 🤞these take quite a toll on my body so we shall see 👀🐈 taken in Uppsala, Sweden by @kattstudie
