The tranquil view from the evening walk in our neighborhood. The sky is marked up by a day’s worth of flights. The hills glow under the setting sun. And the frogs resume their nightly chorus.🌿

An impromptu strawberry crumble.🍓I picked up fresh berries at our local Farmers’ Market intending to use them in fruit salads and shakes. But hardly an hour had passed, and here we are. What can I say...this cake is ridiculously easy to make and is the ideal combination of buttery and moist.

With my final semester well underway, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by work and health, to give in to anxiety, to lose sight of routines that help us stay afloat. So the current goal is to slow way, way down. Yes to more walks with my hubby, to cozy snuggles with the kitties, to home-cooked meals and pottering around in the garden. Things will pick up soon enough, so for now, I’m allowing myself to live in the moment.🌿#MFA #graduateschool #amwriying #selfceare #Spring by @katyadove

These guys. They made the lonely, painful year not only bearable but sweet. Thank you for helping us through 2020. For the cuddles, laughs and all the unconditional love. 🤍#DaisyandRipleyDove #furbabies #catsofinstagram #sillyfloofs by @katyadove

My last batch of Ricciarelli cookies. Baking during the holidays always feels like casting magic spells. Ground cinnamon for spice, buttery vanilla for warmth, marshmallow-like smoothness of egg whites for texture...all combined into a crunchy, citrus-scented biscuit with the unexpectedly soft, delicate heart. A biscuit that tastes like magic itself.✨ Distant cousins to macaroons, Ricciarelli date back to the 14th century Siena and are rumored to have been first served by Ricciardetto della Gherardesca upon his return from the Crusades. #holidaybaking #glutenfree #holidayrecipes #favoriterecipe #bakinglove by @katyadove
