Teach your boys at every opportunity to be the kid that’s kind. Developmentally, the older your son gets, the harder it will become to avoid the culture of patriarchal, dominant behavior. We can do this, but we have to start early and often. #sexualassaultawareness #womenrunning #janedoe by @katyrunsonpurpose

First 100k. First female.
What a journey this was! Tears at the starting line, a hard fall 2nd lap, lots of trail friends, incredible volunteers, and most importantly, so much love from friends and family. From big hugs from the folx, a steady force from @racheljumpphotography when I took a hard fall, @dreamawalton’s strength and calm throughout the race, and my big bro @lawfelder pacing me to the finish. Shout out to @nutritiontara for all the carbs! Thank you @aravaiparunning for an amazing race! taken in Bear Creek Lake Park, City of Lakewood by @katyrunsonpurpose

They just can’t let go of women’s sports being about the game rather than the bodies, can they?

#sidneysweeney videos have me thinking hard about the influences of body culture, and women in sports. When we think we have made progress against sexualizing women in every space, we find we still have more work to do. Your body is showing up for you. Join it. #athletementalhealth #gymlife #runnersofinstagram by @katyrunsonpurpose

On this national suicide prevention day, remember to check on the friends running beside you. Just as you care when someone trips and falls, care that they don’t seem like themselves. Have courage to ask the hard question. And if you’re struggling, I hope you use your courage to share it with someone else. Go to therapy, friends. #athletementalhealth #suicidepreventionmonth #austinrunner by @katyrunsonpurpose

Keeping your cool when the runs get hard is a practice. Training isn’t meant to make your race pain free, but to teach you that you can carry the load…Go to therapy, folx! ;) #therapy #athletementalhealth #runningtips by @katyrunsonpurpose

There is so much to this story, and I hope even a fraction of it helps someone keep fighting for their healthcare and their life. Suicide does not have a look, and endless factors propel people into a place of no longer staying. I hope you stay. I hope you fight. I hope you find answers that bring you joy. #suicidepreventionmonth #suicideprevention #athletementalhealth by @katyrunsonpurpose

My body has never given me more immediate feedback than about 30 minutes after a long run. Fueling immediately after has drastically changed the game for me with soreness, aches, and pain. Hunger cues aren’t the most reliable source after big efforts, so eat the burger. 😉 #ultrarunninglife #runningrecovery #austinrunners by @katyrunsonpurpose

1. Your body is not a robot, and it isn’t always predictable. Having expectations for how your body “should” perform might just make your runs harder. Approach a run in the present, with attention to how your body is in the moment, rather than what you expected, or predicted it to be.
2. We can sometimes forget that our brain needs resources to function, and it will use that up just like any other muscle. If you’re stuck in ruminating, evaluating, or negative self-talk, you might just be using up resources you’d probably like to have for your legs!
3. Regulating your emotions during big endurance events is essential. Opposite action and delaying responses to big feelings might support you sticking with it.
4. Positive self talk has never really worked for me. My brain loves to come back with a question, or negation. Instead, you might try dropping the words, or story your brain is giving, and return to something like your RPE.
5. Your “Why” won’t always be the antidote to persevering, but having it near by can keep you on track and moving forward.

There was something magical about this trip.
In a world full of so much strife and hate, I found community and love amongst strangers. I’m so grateful to have been a part of this @leadvilleraceseries journey with @eyeronkyle and all the amazing humans he chose to be with him for this epic experience. New friends, new memories, and new strength. See you soon, Colorado. @aravaiparunning Bear Chase 100k up next. by @katyrunsonpurpose
