J’Lion Ha’ateed PDC 154/155 🎲 This is by far one of the hardest dogs I’ve ever trained. I picked him from the litter because I knew he was going to be a challenge and I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. He was only a challenge because I don’t train the same way I used to. I’m now fair. Having a 4 year old dog that just got his PDC, because I took my time. Anytime I felt myself arguing with him, I took a step back. I changed my game plan and did something totally different. I eventually found what works for him and then repeated that pattern. 📈 If you ever feel like you a treading water with your dog, always remember that means you aren’t drowning! #protectiondog #protectiondogs #certified taken in Bryant, Arkansas by @katzknowsdogs

Commandment #7.

How someone handles losing (or sometimes just not reaching a goal on a given day) tells me an awful lot about them. I’ve seen some very poor examples. And… I’m happy to say that I’ve recently seen some very good examples. Yes, dogs will be dogs. Yes, sometimes dogs have an “off” day. And yes, sometimes more training and/or preparation is needed. Regardless of which is the case, how you handle it speaks volumes about your character. So, maybe…

What a way to close out a PSA1! Titling a dog is not a linear process. There are ups and downs and growth to overcome.

Isaiah and Jean stepped on the field and put together one hell of a performance, walking away with their PSA1 and a stack of awards:

🏆 High Obedience
🏆 High in Trial
🏆 High Owner Trained
🏆 High Club — Dogma Demons 😈

Watching this team grow, put in the work, and then have it all come together on trial day was something special. Nothing handed to them. Nothing accidental. Just good training, trust between dog and handler, and a lot of work behind the scenes.

Proud to be one of Isaiah’s mentors 🫶 #dogmaacademyfordogtrainers #dogmademons #PSA1 by @katzknowsdogs

OCTOBER 30-DAY VIRTUAL MENTORSHIP

October 1st–30th

I’m opening up 10 working spots for my October 30-Day Virtual Mentorship.

This month is going to be about developing your eye as a trainer. Not just learning techniques, but actually learning how to look at the dog in front of you, figure out what’s going on and make a training plan that makes sense for THAT dog.

We’re going to spend the month talking about everything from motivation and reinforcement to pressure, conflict, corrections, problem solving and putting it all together.

Every working student gets:

• 2 live group classes every week
• 1 private lesson with me every week
• Video review throughout the month
• Access to all the recordings
• A plan for where to take your training after the mentorship

WORKING SPOTS — $1,500
10 spots available

AUDIT SPOTS — $500

The goal isn’t for you to leave this mentorship knowing how I would train your dog.

The goal is for you to leave knowing how YOU should train your dog.

Recap from the @katzknowsdogs x @dogmaacademyfordogtrainers.llc seminar hosted by @ultimatek9bodyguards last weekend!

It was an awesome weekend with an incredible group all coming together to learn, ask questions, and grow. We always love opportunities like this to dive deeper into training, and exchange ideas.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and made it such a great weekend. Looking forward to the next one! taken in Calgary, Alberta by @katzknowsdogs

Every Mandalorian has their own armor.

It’s built for them. Worn differently. Scarred differently. Every piece tells a story.

That’s how I look at the leather aprons I build for decoys.

No two are exactly the same. Different leather. Different details. Different designs. Each one has its own personality because every decoy who wears one has their own style, their own movement, and their own story.

But underneath all of that individuality, they have one job:

Protect the decoy.

A decoy puts their body on the line so the dog can learn, develop, and become better. Their equipment shouldn’t just look good—it needs to take punishment, protect the person underneath it, and be something they can trust when the dog comes in hard.

So when I build an apron, I don’t look at it as just another piece of dog-training equipment.

I look at it like Mandalorian armor. #beskar #protectyoneck taken in Ultimate K9 Bodyguards by @katzknowsdogs
