In the touching CalArts short film "FLIGHT," a child stuck indoors trapped behind locked gates longs for the outside world, finding solace in simple gestures of kindness like sharing bread with small creatures outside. After watching birds fly freely into the sky and gathering the courage to unlock the door, the child finally steps out to face the world, discovering warmth and connection in a friendly encounter. Vivian Ngai's expressive 2D animation beautifully captures the emotional transition from isolation to openness.
