I thought I had secured a bib for the 2025 NYC Marathon, but turns out I didn’t. I stopped training and felt disappointed. But last week i said why not just do it ANYWAY! So today I decided to run my own marathon, created my own bib and ran. No crowds to cheer me on, just me. It was my longest run ever, felt good but that sh%€ was HARD! It’s never too late: May 6th 2023 I did my first 5k-“Run for Casey.”I wanted to run for a cause and I loved the story behind this cause. Since then I have never looked back. I do this run yearly because it is my first 🥺. It’s never too late, I did that 5k at 38 years old now I’m 40 years old and I placed 2nd (in my age group lol) in this same 5k! And I still have so much more to go. I’m celebrating my two years of 2,608 miles that I’ve ran. I was never an athlete, but now I can say I am! It’s never too late to do what you want. Whew! I’ve come along way. This was my very first 5k out of state, had so much fun and hit a milestone. 3rd in all females!! so geeked I got two medals lol. In a month i will start training for 2025 NYC Marathon!! Are you freaking kidding me-INSANE! Crying 😭

It’s never too late to start running. I’ve learned ALOT since I started my journey (still learning). Started running by myself in 2023 (I tried recruiting friends but they preferred to support me from the side lines). When I ran my first 10 miles I started crying at mile 9 and kept crying until mile 10 🤣🤣because I never thought my body could do that.
Kay’s lil run nuggets:
-Start slow and steady
-Be patient and kind to yourself
-Don’t get caught up in being fast. -Focus on endurance and make your EASY runs EASY
-Don’t forget to strength train
-Prioritize your recovery
-Interval training is 🔑
-Runners high is REAL but doesn’t happen all the time
-It’s okay to stop and walk if you need to
-If you need motivation join a run club, shout out to @sundaysrvcrc
-The running community on social media is 🙌🏾.. the love and support I get from people (random strangers) is beyond!
-Get your partner to support you lol.. all those long runs and 3-5 days of running can be tough

On today’s windy and cold run, I found $1 then as I kept running found $2 and then found another $2! Insane! I found each bill at different points on my run. I feel like a winner🤣🤣🤣 never in my life. #running #njrunning #girlpower #motivation #howdidigetsolucky by @kay_runs2
