FARGOOOO hi :) I am hitting the road from NY and am gonna be in town the first couple weeks of September to see some family and pals and shoot a couple weddings, figured I might as well open up my calendar on the slim chance anyone’s photo needs have yet to be met this summer ☀️

Finally got to spend this last month catching up on summer chilling after what has been the most insane and surreal year of my life- I have now returned to my natural state: absolutely itchin’ to take some portraits.

Just sent off tiff and mac’s wedding gallery and had to share a handful of favorites! my first desert wedding, i’m simply obsessed.
this was such a cool example prioritizing being comfortable on your big day; these guys tied the knot early in the morning before the desert heat set in followed by family photos in everyone’s formal wedding fits, then everyone got to have a nap/chill in the AC afternoon recess, then we all circled back for a beautiful and serene late evening dinner. Their reception was unreal- I’m gonna have to dedicate a follow up post to it. Still buzzing over this one! And what an honor to get to shoot a fellow music photographer’s big day, and for her to request big time cotton candy vibes :’) taken in Lajitas, Texas by @kaydargen

hi pals!!!

my wedding season started off beautifully last month with sophie and emily’s super intimate and frankly perfect sunday brunch wedding. truly an honor to have been one of the 8 people in that room 🖤

they ended their day by hoppin on Sophie’s motorcycle and cruising over to where they rented out a screen at @fargotheatre to watch one of their favorite movies, just the two of them. I absolutely love seeing how couples tailor their days to suit them perfectly, these guys are PROS at that and I was taking sooo many notes at this wedding 📝🥹

I remember when I was 17, I first started learning the ropes of wedding photography under my favorite wedding photographer in town (hi @kateslewis !!!) and she told me to prepare for the day that the ~kids~ whose senior photos you took are reaching out for you to shoot their weddings, and how old it’s gonna make you feel LOL. this was one of those days for me!!! i took Emily’s senior photos like 6 years ago?!! and I wouldn’t have it any other dang way. nothing compares to preserving memories for amazing humans like Emily and then meeting the people like Sophie who swept them off their feet, and celebrating alongside their family. this day got me good!!! taken in Ivy & Rose Warehouse by @kaydargen

our initial shoot ended up getting randomly rained out halfway through, so we picked it up again the next day that worked for us! and as always w my senior shoots, bring all the family/friends you want, I’ll so happily loop in some quick and casual fam photos into your shoot as well 🖤 by @kaydargen

reminiscing on one of my favorite weddings I’ve gotten to shoot 🧚‍♂️ beautiful humans shelby and travis flew me out to mississippi to cover their dreamy lil fairytale day late last year.

i don’t have enough words or slides to describe every detail that made this day so otherworldly, but for starters, shelby the craft queen handmade all the florals including her bridesmaids’ lanterns (almost fainted when i saw those), and decorated every surface w thrifted treasures and her incredible illustrations. she wore a cape and a crown that when Travis saw for the first time during their first look he said (thru the happiest tears) ‘did you steal this from an elf?!’. and of course they had a wedding SWORD, engraved and all. yes I got to swing it around and yes it was sick.

to top it all off, during the dance they set up a projector with their Nintendo switch hooked up and had a smash bros tourney. because of this I had to add a new clause to my wedding contract that states ‘client is aware that should a smash bros tourney take place, the Photographer will demolish said Client with wii fit trainer’ 🧘🏐

10/10 day. comin back for more sweet tea asap taken in Hernando, Mississippi by @kaydargen

hellooooo Fargo-area ~class of 2023~, my summer and fall evenings are officially up for grabs! link in my bio :-)

lots of info at said link, but here’s a mini FAQ for y’all too!

Q: why are only evening shoots available?
A: I do alllll of my senior shoots in the last few hours before sunset for best lighting, and I only do one shoot per evening to maximize our focus on you!

Q: do you watermark your photos?
A: never! you get all the best photos from your shoot (amount depending on the package you choose!) back via super high res online gallery completely retouched and ready to be posted and printed to your heart’s desire!

Q: can i bring friends/family/pets to my shoot?
A: ABSOLUTELY. please bring whoever makes you feel comfortable and fly! bonus points if they wouldn’t mind helping us carry around some outfits/props should we have them :-) Aaaand there’s never any extra charge if you want any photos with your family/buds/pets, whether they come with for the whole shoot or want to meet us for a few minutes during it. you can use our evening together to get photos of whatever you’d like!

Q: what if we get bad weather on the date we chose?
A: I leave lots of open gaps in my calendars for this reason so we can just scooch ya over to the next evening that works for us, no problem! but also if you’re adventurous and wanna go for it despite some drizzle/wind/etc, some of my favorite photo conditions that have lead to rainbows or dramatic sunsets have come from just goin for it! and if we decide 10 minutes in that it ain’t working, we will reconvene on the next day that works for us both :-)

Q: I don’t know where I want to go or what to wear!
A: no problemo! you’ll get a little questionnaire from me so I can get to know you and what you’re hoping for, and we’ll build the perfect itinerary for us from there. I will also gladly help plan outfits, but as long as it’s something you feel like yourself in and are comfy in, that’s a perfect choice to me. you can bring any pieces you’ve got your eye on to our shoot, and we can piece together looks as we go!
