No More History Without Us (2024) was a profoundly sincere film, true to its creators’ manifesto, confronting the silences and biases that shaped what we call history, and to the emotions left behind by the absence of social justice and the neglect of those who protect the Amazon rainforest, one of the most exploited territories. These are stories that must be heard. 🌿Thank you to our community for bringing this conversation to life, and to @kayeb_amazonia , @cgedimburgo , Instituto Guimaraes Rosa, and @takeoneaction for making it possible. We were grateful to share this space alongside human rights activist Claudalice Silva dos Santos. by @kayeb_amazonia

The Amazon has a voice. And it’s time the world listens.“No More History Without Us” — a powerful new documentary by Amazonian filmmaker Priscilla Brasil (@prisbrasil — is more than a film. It’s a manifesto.Priscilla challenges colonial narratives that have long defined the Amazon as a wilderness to be saved — rather than a civilisation to be heard. Urban and traditional Amazonian peoples have been silenced for centuries. This film fights back.🏆 Winner – Best Feature Film, FICA Brazil 2024 🏆 Winner – Best Documentary, Bali International Film Festival 2024The documentary will be presented next week, June 16, in Edinburgh, in partnership with @cinemaattic. The event is supported by the @scottishdocinstitute (SDI), @takeoneaction , the @cgedimburgo , and the Instituto Guimaraes Rosa. we are part of the Latin Connections Film Festival and the #UK/Brazil Season of Culture 2025–26.📅 Tuesday, 16th June 2026🕐 8:00 p.m.📍Leith Dockers ClubBOOK YOUR FREE TICKET ON Cinemaattic webpage! - https://cinemaattic.com #AmazonianCinema #DocumentaryFilm #Amazônia #climatechange by @kayeb_amazonia

Casa Kayeb & CinemaAttic present No More History Without Us (2025) by Priscilla Brasil and Raphael Uchôa. In this manifesto-film, two Amazonian filmmakers expose the deep roots of a historical lie: the invention of the forest as an inexhaustible Garden of Eden. From Munich to Belém, they trace how racism and prejudice, in Brazil and across the world, continue to be built around the idea of a so-called “savage demographic emptiness”, a land without voice, without history, without people.Followed by a conversation with Claudelice dos Santos, Brazilian human rights and environmental defender.📅 16 June | Leith Dockets Club, Edinburgh🎟️ Free event (booking required)🔗 Link in bioThis event is supported by the Consulate General of Brazil in Edinburgh and Instituto Guimarães Rosa. by @kayeb_amazonia

Back to writing stories about invisible voices 🤍I chose journalism because writing was my passion (almost an obsession!). As an introvert, the school library was a sanctuary — quiet afternoons, surrounded by many books I couldn't afford, and the freedom to imagine different worlds. Writing felt like a safe space. In many ways, creating Kayeb was my way of coming back to that feeling.I missed telling stories that make us believe in people we may never meet — stories that move and challenge us, and remind us that courage exists in places we don’t always see.It may sound a little idealistic, but giving visibility to invisible stories and incredible people is what made me choose journalism in the first place (and leave law to a plan B that never happened).Kayeb was born to talk about climate, the future of the Amazon and its communities in a way that feels human and accessible. And @Global Citizen gave me this opportunity. I wrote a series about Banco do Brasil’s Bioeconomy Hub in the Amazon, supporting families from traditional communities facing limited internet access and barriers to financial services. These are challenges that have a deep connection with social and climate justice. And I also had the honour of interviewing Claudelice dos Santos (podes achar o IG dela?). Her brother Ze Cláudio and sister-in-law, Maria, were brutally killed in 2011 for defending their territory. Claudelice chose to continue their fight to protect other forest defenders and funded the @institutozeclaudioemaria. She is brave, thoughtful, and deeply inspiring.Para a bio ou LinktreeInterview with Claudelice Santos: https://shorturl.at/rH53QStories from the Biuoeconomy Hub in the Amazon region: https://lnkd.in/eVQJ-ndjPS: In the following days, I’ll share the impactful activities Kayeb delivered in 2025. Today is Black Consciousness Day in Brazil (a title that, personally, I think should be reconsidered), but I wanted to talk about one of the most important people I met in 2025.@vanuza_abacatal is a powerful woman of a magnitude I can’t describe. Leader of the Quilombo do Abacatal, a territory with over 315 years of history, I met Vanuza in March of this year when I visited the quilombo with @micksheldrick from @glblctzn .Since then, I hope to honor this friendship until the last days of my life. Vanuza reinforced my pride in my Black ancestry.Vanuza and her entire community embraced me and also embraced everyone I brought to meet them. I see in her the strength of my grandmother, Argemira, who always sang a traditional song longing for the Quilombo do Curiau, in Amapá: where are you going, my boy, I will make my home in Laguinho (a song from the people that were eslaved by the Portuguese colonisation).Yesterday, Vanuza and her sister, Turi (another incredible leader), took me to the place where the Quilombo do Abacatal started – the rocky path, a sacred place for the community – and this beautiful moment closes my year as one of the most beautiful of my life.Thank you Vanuza, Turi, Maria, Maquine, Marivaldo, and all the Black voices of the Amazon who help preserve our ancestry and the forest we love so much. by @kayeb_amazonia

We asked Vanessa Gabriel-Robinson, founder of @kayeb_amazonia, about why it’s important to have diverse perspectives in climate storytelling. Her answer? You can’t claim to protect people while leaving their voices out of the room. With all eyes on #COP30 this week it’s clear that communities most affected by climate change want to shape the solutions, not just be mentioned in the closing statement. Talking about inclusion isn’t the same as practising it.#cop30 #belém #indigenousclimateaction #brazil #climateaction by @kayeb_amazonia
