Happy World Postcard Day! 🌏💌

There’s just something special about sending a little piece of happiness across the world — a postcard, a few words, a pretty stamp, and suddenly you’ve made someone’s day. 🥹

From Australia to somewhere across the globe, I’ll never get tired of the thought that these little pieces of paper can travel so far and connect people who might otherwise never cross paths.

And yes… I may have a few postcards posted today. 😂📮

I finally attended my very first Postcrossing meetup in years! 🙆🏻‍♀️

Postcards are fun. But the people behind them? Even better. 💌
I spent part of my Brisbane weekend at a Postcrossing meetup in Bribie Island. Thank you @christy.made.it for organising and for the lift! 🫶🏻

From signing/stamping each other's meetup cards, to talking about collections, stamps and more... Being surrounded by people who don't think it's weird to get ridiculously excited about postcards and postage stamps just feels so comforting.

Postcrossing is more than paper travelling from one mailbox to another. It is about connection, community and finding your people. 📮✨

As usual, I kind of forgot to take more photos, but here's some snippets of the day. Duffy was happy to be a part of it. 🙆🏻‍♀️

Pelikan Hub Brisbane 2026 - An evening surrounded by people who understand why you need that many pens. 😂🖋️

This was one of those days where stationery conversations somehow went from “what are you writing with?” to hours later still talking about pens, nibs and inks. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way. 💙

There's something really special about meeting people online through a shared hobby and then getting to sit around the same table and geek out about it together.

As usual, I didn't have many photos from the event because I was too engrossed chatting. I had this big plan of arriving early but that went out to the window no thanks to my scatter-minded brain. 🤣

I definitely have some pens and inks added to my wishlist. I've been told I have expensive taste. If only this little thing called money doesn't stand in the way... 😂

I did end up going home with a new pen from this trip, which I'll share more about soon.

Much to her dismay, I didn't bring my Pelikan 140NN. I had no good reason except that it was soaking at home because I left it inked since the start of the year. 🥲

Mr Hedgey. Paperweight ONLY!

I've known @kayemails for years via Instagram. But it took a Pelikan Hubs to finally meet in person! I missed her last year (was working on Hubs night) and we live about 16hrs drive away from each other despite being in the same state and country.

It was fun to finally meet her in person.

I wanted to give her a souvenir of the Hubs and had been charmed by Mr Hedgey from her recent posts. Not everyone asks about the hedgehog holding pens, but when they do, they always get informed that he's a paperweight that has been assigned more work as a pen holder and is not happy about it.

So of course, I put Hedgey to more work holding Kaye's one and only Pelikan pen: the Pelikan 400 NN

Then I was able to request that she bring Mr Hedgey to Pelikan Hubs for a fan meeting and his first fan art 🤭 And I was told verbally that Mr Hedgey was a paperweight begrudgingly turned pen holder. He's sticking to his story. For a paperweight, he's not that heavy. Definitely a pen holder 🤣

You can see Mr Hedgey holding one of my own pens on slide number 2 at the pen meet. He has good side eye game.

Sketched with the Monteverde Dakota fountain pen inked with Platinum Carbon Black and painted in watercolours for longevity (longer than fountain pen ink anyway)

Life has got the better of me lately. 🥲

Not gonna lie… I’ve fallen behind on my penpal mail, which also means I’ve been a bit behind on logging my outgoing letters here.

Confession: I have 8 letters waiting to be answered. 🙈

And you know what? I’m trying not to feel guilty about it. Sometimes life gets busy, and the happy mail has to wait. The letters will get written. The stamps will eventually get stuck on. The mail pile will eventually shrink.

For now, I’m just taking it one letter at a time.

So… how many letters are currently waiting on your desk? 👀💌

There’s just something special about receiving handwritten letters and postcards in a world of notifications and DMs. What's even more special is when these letters are from penpals all over the world.

A letter doesn't have to be fancy to feel special.

Sometimes all it takes is just a plain envelope, a fountain pen (or your favourite pen), a couple of rubber stamps and some carefully chosen postage stamps. These little details can completely change the feeling of receiving it. ✨

A rubber stamp can add a little personality — a tiny illustration, a "happy mail" message, a postmark-style detail — while postage stamps can bring colour, character and even a little piece of where the letter came from.

And honestly? Choosing the stamps might be one of my favourite parts. 🩷

My postage stamps and decorative stamps were all collected since I started actively penpalling 12 years ago, and I'm so very grateful and blessed by the many friendships forged over the years. 🫶🏻

There's something so satisfying about looking through my stamp collection and thinking:
"Okay... which ones belong on this envelope?" 👀

Snailmail doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive.
It's the little bit of thought you put into it that makes someone feel like you were thinking of them. 💌

Stationery nerd question: are you the kind of person who plans the whole envelope around the stamps, the ink, or the stickers? 👀

I love how every envelope ends up a little different. Sometimes I start with the stamps, sometimes the stickers… and sometimes I just keep adding things until it feels right or a bit too much. 😂

And honestly, half the fun is in the decorating before the letter writing starts. Then you get to pick up your favourite pen and start writing your letter to your penpal. 💌✨

I definitely believe the right combination can make an envelope feel like a tiny piece of art before it even reaches the mailbox.

Some days, the best kind of therapy is sitting down out on the balcony with a stack of envelopes, a handful of vintage stamps, and a fountain pen. It's little moments like these that remind me why I fell in love with snail mail in the first place. Slow, thoughtful, and made with care. ❤️💌

Today's pen is my Diplomat Aero in Funky. It writes as beautifully as it looks! 🫶🏻

Included in today's outgoing mail is @mywrites2you's postcard for our chaincard project. It's been years since I last participated in one, but it's so much fun reviving this hobby with some fellow OGs. It would have been 10 years or longer since the very first chaincard I did. 😳
