Such a fun wet-lab, so cool to learn the basics of hoof trimming! Events like these are so meaningful for those of us who love food-animal medicine, but didn’t grow up around it! Beyond thankful for our AABP chapter!🐮❤️💛 by @kayla._dvm

Today I completed my last day of undergraduate studies and my first year of veterinary school.

I stepped foot on Tuskegee at 18, petrified of answering the childhood dilemma of “what do you want to be when you grow up.” Somewhere along the way, Tuskegee gave a military kid with no roots a hometown. She gave me opportunities to study abroad, to learn how to care for the animals that give their lives to feed our families, and to grow confident in knowing that being the only one in the room never meant I didn’t earn my place in it.

4 years later…

“And he said to the people of Israel, “When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’ then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’ For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.” Joshua 4:21-24
