I learned a lot about music business during my time as a vocalist for deephouse songs. First of all spotify and this whole streaming system is fucked but it’s how the world works nowadays and if we like it or not we have to use it somehow. I really feel like - even for me - it’s hard to keep the focus on the music and the art we are doing and not make it a kind of monopoly game where the most important thing is bigger numbers and more money.
But I also learned to be proud of myself for doing this music that sometimes feels less important than other things I‘m doing. It’s not. It’s part of my artist-me and I don’t want to keep it down anymore. I am reaching so many people with my voice (MY VOICE) and my lyrics and when I see this spotify wrapped I can’t help but giggle about those numbers. My songs got streamed for so long - if it was one piece it would last 29 years. In one year. Can you imagine this? People are listening to it in parts of the world I didn’t even know the name of.
It’s just all insane and I can’t find all the words that I want to write down. I am just so proud and happy about this and need to check in with reality lol.
Thank you @timhughes + @panumalenny + @felkeemusic for doing this with me. It means the world!
